Fantastic bird sounds and recording, very different from european birds and soundscape. Very beautiful.

This is a “quiet recording” from nature reserve Flói in the southwest of Iceland.
This recording contains many local birds and migrants. Birds as Red- necked Phalarope, Arctic stern, Red throated diver, Black tailed Goldwit, Common Snipe, Golden Plover, Whimbrel, Eurasian Oystercatcher and many other birds are in this recording. Noisiest and probably "ugliest sound" in this recording is the Red throated diver´s territorial call, but they also express in the recording a beautiful calm conversation with their eyes.
Background noise is coming from the surf among the south cost.
The recording was made in 26th of June 2012 around 3 am and is just nine minutes of ten hours recording that day. The weather was calm, clear sky and temperature around 5°C.
This is a very quiet nature recording so you should not play it loud. If you stay there you can barely hear this birdsong or this bird activity with open ears. You should play it like you think you will hear it trough open window, as a background sound. Best way to listen to all the details and explore the bird species is using quality headphones. This recording contains also very loud session when all Red throated divers in the area “scream” their territorial call.

Nature reserve in Flói 2012

Under the sweltering moon of a muggy African night, a mixed chorus of frogs and insects provide the backdrop to the shout, rumble and roar of an elephant gathering in a forest clearing called the Dzanga Bai.

Stéphane Marin presents a weekly series of twenty soundscapes recorded in the mornings at various locations throughout Oceania. Entitled « Oceanian PhoNographic Mornings » this series forms part of a wider project, « Each Morning of the World », which invites sound artists, composers and recordists globally to share their own specific point of listening, either through a raw field recording or original composition.
 

This project tends to focus on the vivacity and the creativity of the « soundscape » scene in the world. For that Stéphane Marin asks to a representative sample of sound creators, composers, recordists who use fieldrecording as a part of their creative process to share with the audience a creation or a raw recording of their own morning in a precise location of the world. The project also tend to cover the most larger part (or representative) of the continent area in 15 to 20 contributions per season (contributors are natives or foreigners; trying to share the most female contributors as possible, and tend to share the most local contributors as possible). The rule is simple a soundscape (from 3 to 15 minutes) is release each Sunday morning then the name of the contributor is reveal to the public and to the other contributors.

Stories concerning the heroes and rituals

Many native birds thrive on the island including kiwi, tui, korimako (bellbird), both red and yellow crowned kakariki (parakeets), pateke (brown teal), kereru (wood pigeon), miromiro (tomtit), titipounamu (rifleman), riroriro (grey warbler), korora (blue penguin), popokatea (whitehead) and karuhiruhi (pied shag). 

With over 40 species of birds permanently or seasonally present, two bat species and 14 species of reptiles, the island supports the most diverse assemblage of native fauna of any island in the country. Because of this, and the fact the island is free of most introduced predators, it is considered to be one of the most important reserves of its kind in the world.
