Route 44 Vol. I is a compilation of songs written while riding and walking to and from Route 44.
A public bus transit that took me to the well rounded edges of my city, as well as its neglected underbelly.
Bakersfield, California has been reprimanded as a city with no future. 
Stuck in the past, regurgitating the cultural scraps of the larger metropolis that surround the valley. 
Growing up, I too believed there was no inspiration to be found here.
No direction to lead us out of the bowl that held many of us at bay. 
However; the older I became, the more I understood how one could find that direction. That spark of inspiration.
Inspiration was and is abundant here. 
We have always had originality.
That raw refined culture that was labeled foreign first, and exotic last. 
Those war wounds that healed to war medals, all carry unique stories of struggle that no one has heard, yet all can relate too. 
With this EP I believe I have begun that journey for myself. 
I do not where it will end, but I do know where it began.
