Lateral Movement [Portugal]

In the nineties a move to the UK came as a consequence of his studies and with him a pulsating eagerness which helped Lateral Movement to dive right into the local music culture, effervescent as ever. There he meandered effortlessly through genres, taking him deeper into the arts whilst aiding his curiosity, from free jazz to indietronica. Returning to his homeland, Portugal, subtracted him from this rich diversity and forced him to become a strong supporter of the alternative scenes, where he looked to push people and projects that shared his values and vision. There and then he decided to embark on a different kind of journey and took upon himself the responsibility of discovering new music and to share it with the community. To this day techno and its many guises are his passion, especially the deeper and hypnotic realms, where ambience and atmosphere play the main role.

Xhato is a vinyl only DJ and producer based in Berlin. The type of techno he plays and makes can be described as minimalistic, trippy and dance floor friendly. Xhato’s sound is constantly evolving. Our fragment series continues. This month's story is told by Vanta.

Originally from a metalcore and hardcore background, Marvin has always enjoyed electronic and experimental music. Heavily influenced by this and the techno scene in Leipzig his focus are impulsive rhythms, dissociative sounds, and dark and eerie atmospheres. 

As a founding member of PVC, he is also co-organizing raves in clubs and woods around the Leipzig area. For a few years now, he has been exploring the world of producing. 

Releasing on Labels like Aarden Records, Crescent London, Further Sessions, Proselytizing, or Charybdis he is establishing himself in the scene always seeking to refine his sound.

‘’ For podcasts, I usually start with an idea or a concept of sorts what I personally expect of a certain podcast series and start digging through all the amazing artists and labels to find something that suits that concept. This can take as little as a few hours from start to finish but also has been taking me a few months and that is not in a bad way. I remember a friend of mine told me when I started DJing, that DJing is not about beat-matching perfectly but about selecting and flow and storytelling. ‘’

Coming from the Land of the Sun, Dj, Music Producer and Live Performer KLARA is a prominent artist creating her mark on the global psychedelic, deep and hypnotic techno scene. The desire to transform nature’s vibrations into sonic soundscapes is an inevitable part of her journey which may be perceived through her creative work. With her comprehensive DJ and live performances, highly induced by her deep philosophical background and psychological practice, Klara has grown into an artist able to bring a special kind of transcendental state to each of her shows. Part of this guest compilation consists of selected tracks for Modem Mutations V.2 that unfortunately due to illness was unheard at the dancefloor.

ARTIST'S BIO:
Raphael aka Taguari, is an Oslo-based DJ with a great passion for hypnotic atmospheric techno, leftfield electronic music and ambient vibes.

His journey as an DJ began in 2006 with a close friend named Dr. Getdown.

"We started collecting vinyl from funk and old school hip hop or rap and played around Munich in bars and outdoor locations".

In the following years as they played their records and moved around various events, Taguari became more involved with drum-n-bass and electronic music, and started slowly to assemble a collection of records. "Funk and rap were still in my heart, but I became more enthusiastic about the hypnotic state that techno brought into my life! The constantly changing varieties of patterns and sequences allowed endless possibilities to be creative. It was a new world for me, full of stories that wanted to be experienced".

Around 2009, started Raphael "Sunrise", a project with different souls of art and music around Munich. The group organized small raves in atypical locations like brown pubs, transforming the venue with large sound systems and art. "Our hearts were craving for creative expression to a local audience, so we used Sunrise as the platform to connect with the street. We called the events "Boazn Rave" ( a Boazn is an Bavarian word for a typical dark&dirty local pub) and for me these events were truly special experiences. A lot of what I was playing during the Sunrise project was influenced by the music, coming from the "Prologue" record label".

The end of Sunrise came in 2012 as the various members took time to explore solo projects and other pathways. Raphael felt he needed a break from the nightlife and made the decision to instead spend his time travelling.

His travel took him to Norway where he now lives and continues his passion as a hypnotic storyteller and DJ, playing at forest parties in his beloved nature or at other locations around Oslo.

"I truly enjoy being out in Nature, it's a peaceful intimate experience. It calms me down and gives me energy for the upcoming projects".

Next up and incoming at Pro B Tech Music, we warmly welcome another first-time original from Tulum Music - Soundscape Moog. This EP comes with 3 x Originals from Tulum, Soundscape Moog, Clipped Sweep & Players. In addition, we have 3 remixes to support: 1 from Bulldozer and 2 from Hernan Serrao. We kick things off with the title track Soundscape Moog, the guys take no prisoners here a full on 4/4 Prog monster, that has grinding basslines, pads and acid throughout, we love it. Next up is Clipped Sweep, this is another outstanding production from the guys, another outstanding slice of Prog, solid kick, driving bass guaranteed to destroy a dance floor, this is another biggie!! We then welcome back Bulldozer with their remix of Clipped Sweep, this maintains the drive of the original whilst taking things in slightly deeper direction, a very welcome return here. Finally on Clipped Sweep we have a very close friend and regular to Pro B coming in from Argentina Hernan Serrao, Hernan does what he does best, he lifts the sound and gives that South American, Argentinian feel we all love, outstanding. Next is the final original from the Tulum guys, Players, this is has a deeper feel to it but very much drive to it, something that will get your head down, feet moving, and hands in there through the break. Then last but not least we have Hernan back once again to give his work to Players, Once again Hernan lifts the sound, brings in more melodic elements which float through out whilst keeping things moving.
