Love is simple

A composition depicting perhaps the midst of snowy winter, where the encroaching cold is held at bay with a memory of a loved one. 
Harmonically I mostly stayed in D minor/major, with a brief excursion in G minor. I've attempeted to write a middle passage in F major, but the two themes I've managed to come up with simply didn't fit with the rest of the music, but hey, at least I have two new themes for next pieces. 
Completed in the March of 2025.

"Seven AM" was originally a track release by Auxcab, and when I was looking for collaboration that would add heart to the project and a symbolize the help that is offered during trying times, they were the perfect group for task. Based in California's Inland Empire, Nctrnm (Matthew McGilvery) creates instrumental electronic music and new media art, exploring the intersections of sound, visuals, movement, and text. His practice is distinguished by a mobile-centric production methodology, leveraging accessible technology for creative innovation and crafting immersive experiences.
Nctrnm constructs detailed sonic environments weaving analog-inspired textures with minimalist grooves and integrated field recordings. 

Drawing influence from downtempo, electronica, shoegaze, and ambient techno, his work prioritizes atmosphere, intentionality, and emotional resonance. This distinct approach is informed by his background in Decision Science (CSU Fullerton), employing principles of design thinking and behavioral strategy to shape evocative soundscapes.
His evolving discography includes foundational releases EQUINOX (2018), TRACES (2019), and NOVA (2021). These works paved the way for the textured explorations of his EPs FLUX (2023) and GEMINI (2024). Nctrnm's forthcoming fourth album, PXL, scheduled for release in late summer 2025, promises a deeper dive into themes of transition, loss, and identity.

Beyond music production, Nctrnm's multidisciplinary portfolio includes generative video, motion graphics, and interactive installations, often shared via Instagram (@nctrnm) and showcased at site-specific events. His live performances synthesize VJing, choreography, and narrative components into cohesive multisensory experiences. Music is my passion! It has always been a wonderful part of my life. Growing up in Brooklyn New York exposed me to street corner crooners, Afro Latin beats, Blues, Jazz and Rock & Roll. Marching down the street playing a tenor drum in my Boy Scout uniform is a cherished memory I have of growing up in the Brooklyn. It was my most urgent desire to dawn that uniform so, I too, could be a drummer in the Brooklyn Day Parade. 

The Apollo theatre was another great influence in my youth, knowing the back stage manager’s son helped too. oh yea, front row seats. 

In high school I discovered the harmonica along with a steady diet of R&B, Jazz, Rock, I never got to stuck of any genre and appreciating the fusion of different styles. I enlisted in the Air Force in Coral Gables Florida after graduating Longwood High Middle Island. 

Stationed in Okinawa Japan I met countless badass funky musicians from all over the US. For seven years I played keyboards in a top forty cover band “Shock Tacy”. Working Steve Howard the owner of the “Power Station” recording studio in Okinawa Japan, I learned a lot of the basics of the craft. 

After retirement I returned to California and I decided to my own start my own business building  my own recording studio Phat Daddy’s Music Studio in 1999. 

In 2000 Atlanta was to be coined the Hip Hop headquarters of the DirtySouth, I too decided to relocated to ATL for work in the music industry. 
Working with Audio Visual companies and Wizard Electronics a music repair facilities. 

2012 I discovered the THI studio in Brooklyn, where I received my audio engineering certificate with my studio mentor Robert Honablue. I am now based in Portland Oregon producing and recording music, my life’s passion!!!

Currently in Bangkok Thailand creating tracks for the love of music!
