PREMIERE: Eduardo De La Calle "Sri Agni" (Mona Records)

With a recent appearance on TraTraTrax's excellent 'no pare, sigue sigue' compilation, DJ SOSA RD returns with a new EP, 'Island Boy With Internet'. The self-released three-tracker varies in speed and style, aiming to channel the rage in a playful and exciting way. On the track 'key-tee-poe', DJ SOSA RD experiments with a push-and-pull style that entices you in with an old school jungle rhythm before dialling down the tempo as a haunting melody comes into view. 

Speaking about the release, DJ SOSA RD says, "breakcore and Jungle seemed like obvious choices for the next sounds I wanted to play with. Intense, physical, playful, built on sampling, clad with bass, and stemming from a long tradition of counter-culture. These sounds melded perfectly with dembow’s aesthetic and spirit, which is present in the samples used in the EP."

Ander B swiftly follows up with his second EP in as many months for Robsoul, with the three track ‘El Monte’. June’s three-tracker ‘El Urban’ scored fans in Charles Webster, Terry Farley, Round Table Knights, Fish Go Deep and Mosca amongst others.

The producer, based on the Dominican Republic, draws in his musicon a rich variety of musical influences. From salsa, latin, jazz, soul and disco, the two releases for Robsoul have been put together to capture the feel of, in Ander’s words, “...a portrait of the urban third world, like el barrio and los callejones...”. The outcome is a fresh sounding package of dance floor orientated tunes.

Ander B is a DJ / producer and live performance artist based in Barcelona, Catalonia. His music is increasingly abstract, profound and packed with rhythmic trances. The sounds he creates are based on classic house for true purists, which he melds with thick layers of Detroit and Chicago House, as well as jazz, soul, funk and disco.

Ander B describes himself as “DJ, Producer and Live PA” His handling of the MPC is similar to the way a DJ mix, doing long sessions without cuts for hours.
