Welcome to EP113 of the NDYD Radio Show.  This week we have a very special guest from Moscow on his second appearance on the show. Alex Hook (@alex_hook) with releases on Hed Kandi, Deepalma, Spirit Soul Records, Lovestyle Records, Selected, Kiez Beats, Ministry of Sound, Milk & Sugar, and Toolroom produces nudisco / deep disco / chill out and also has huge experience in producing r’n’b and hip hop music.

Alex's tracks regularly achieve high positions in Beatport and TraxSource charts, like the recent releases: "Walk Into The Night" feat. Shyam which went up to the number 1 in Beatport Chill Out Top 100, as well as previous single "I Need Somebody" feat. Rene that also hit number 1 in Beatport Chill Out Top100.

Alex's style is very melodic and chill but with this exclusive mix he shows us another side of his musical palette with a very West Coast bumpin' House feel to it. Maybe he was inspired by his recent trip to California where I got to meet him and Rene in person. He is as nice as a person as he is a talented producer and it's honor to have him back on the program. Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
