You know I really thought this was gonna be the week that I would do something I haven't done in months. That is to miss a week's episode. We are so slam at work that I have been working two weekends in a row (including last week's holiday) non stop.

While listening today to some of the new music I've accumulated in the last few weeks as I worked I just couldn't bring myself to miss an episode. I cranked through to the animations I had to do and got around to record EP-267 before the end of the day. I'm so glad I did cause I needed this to wind down a bit from the craziness.

Damn the weeks are really flying by. Feels like it was yesterday that I was posting EP-267 but here we are at EP-268. Again, tons of new music this week including an amazing remix from the man himself, @miguelmigs1, of a Madonna cover from a track she had done back in 1990. As you start to listen to the EP 269 you might think it's another Yacht Rock episode. I did find some dope edits this week that I had to play in that style but I hope you brought your scuba gear instead of a yacht attire cause after the first 15 minutes the rest of the episode gets real Deep. Including some new fire from Salted Music, Scott Diaz, Tree Threes, a deep house classic from Kerri Chandler and many more in this 2 hour musical blitz.

Welcome back to MY HOUSE.

I do mean HOUSE as we took a downtempo detour last week but it's always nice to raise the tempo again and come back to familiar grounds. I usually showcase the latest newest underground releases that are floating around but this time I did something different. My digital crate has over 10K tracks so why not revisit some of the tracks and remixes from the last 10 - 15 years that, in my opinion, were underrated and are still relevant. These tracks are not 'classics' but timeless still. If you've never heard one them you might think it's new. Though, there are a few tracks from artists like Blaze, Sandy Rivera, Robert Owens, and others that would def fall in the classics category. I should really dig deeper more often in that crate as all these tracks are still so fresh.

We are a tad early with this week's show but I just couldn't wait to put this guest mix out cause I F'in LOVE IT! You will see what I mean by that 25 minutes into this set :) This guest is no stranger to the show as I think this her fourth installment with us. She is the pepper to my pisco, the one and only @pepper_playhouse

I've heard Pepper play many times and we have even played together but she still amazes me when I hear one of her new sets such as this one. The selection, the flow, and the mixes are top notch and def worthy of the show's standards and vibe. If you listen to rest of her sets here you will quickly figure out how musically versatile she is and it's why she will always have a spot on the program.

Speaking of guest mixes, I have a very special guest coming up next week. An OG of the show and one of my favorite producers who is releasing a new track on our label on November 4 and it's amazing. He will be the first to play it on the show next week and boy are you for a treat so make sure to keep your ears open for this talented maestro.

The NDYD Radio Show  EP274 - Guest mix by Pepper

This set was recorded on Halloween almost two weeks ago but I am putting out today because the program had guests already scheduled to play.  Both of the last two guests, Pepper and Alex Hook, raised the bar again on the quality of the NDYD Show so hopefully this live recording will live up to it.

Some of you might remember that I had the opportunity on Halloween to warm up for my friend and producer extraordinaire Miguel Migs (@miguelmigs1) in Hollywood. I am honored that it's Miguel that asked for me to be added to the lineup and set the mood for the night. Honored that he thought that my selections would be a good fit with him and his style. The truth is that his musical style has influenced my sets for years. Full circle really. I had an absolute  blast playing that night and the music was incredible all night long. Hopefully this will give you a small glimpse on how it went.

I know I said EP-281 was going to be the last episode for 2022 but I have a few days off work, I received some amazing new promos this week, and I just wanted to return to some Deep House after the last long Disco episode and I am definitely finishing the year with a deep dive on this EP-282.  So, for real this time the last episode of 2022. Next one will prob be my live set for the day party gig I am playing at on the 1st of 2023 or my recap of my favorite 2022 tunes of the past year. Maybe the other way around. No matter cause the music won't stop :)

The NDYD Radio Show EP282

The music of West Coast DJ, Ricardo Torres can best be described as a blend of deep, soulful house, and disco inflected with the particular sound of the west coast vibe, sultry and smooth. He plays the music that  heads love to dance to; confident that when the music flows from hands that loves the underground it can be an uplifting, groovy and sexy experience.

Ricardo has been on a quest to achieve that perfect mix ever since his first chance encounter at the turntables, in 1987 at his college radio station in Montreal, Canada. His first 12" records were from the Industrial Electronic Music of that time.  Shortly thereafter in 1988, he was first introduced to House Music. Ricardo quickly changed his direction and followed the early days of Chicago House.  He moved towards this style of music since he found it to have a new and unfamiliar energy within itself.

In 1995 Ricardo, moved to Los Angeles, a city basking in sunrays and radiating the good vibes he himself perpetuated. And here, Ricardo discovered the funky, soulfulness of the west coast sound.  Many of his early heroes such as Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, and others gave him the desire to gravitate towards this deeper, more soulful West Coast style.

While still a local Los Angeles DJ, Ricardo - inspired by his love for this genre-decided early on in the year 2000 to post his mixes online to share with the world. This was fairly new and innovative at the time. This act of sharing his musical vision without prejudice or limitations caused him to be sought after to play his brand of house music in cities all over the world. He continues to offer up his masterful mixes, as host of syndicated radio shows online as well as on satellite radio in the USA.

Within the recent past Ricardo joined forces with Nu Disco Your Disco out of Germany for representation and affiliation. This modern Nu Disco sound, to him, is the perfect way to bring that West COast vibe into the future and the new generation. Since NDYD has been a pioneer in bringing the Nu Disco genre to the masses in Europe he felt that they would be the perfect partner for doing the same in North America with their established brand. Hence, the syndicated NDYD Radio Show was born.  The show has been on the air for over a year now and besides Ricardo hosting and DJing it every week, some of the best talent in the industry and from all over the planet have been guest DJs and taken over the show. The loyal following keeps growing episode after episode. 

Underground music trends and styles have changed since Ricardo played his first vinyl record all those years ago but what hasn't changed is that he just loves playing music that inspires the heads to get up and dance!
