" Ya know, it's always been a massive honor to be asked to play the show, and because it feels that way, the show always seems to get the best out of me!  With this being my 5th installment for the show I consider it my Alumni mix now graduating from the previous 4 I produced over the last 4yrs.  During the course of the mix I imagined myself cruising somewhere down the west coast along the water with the top down just before sunset. I felt it was time to slow things down again and started a new series in the Yacht category. We now have Yacht Rock, Yacht Disco, and the new addition Yacht Lounge. It's not the first time I do a downtempo episode but I've done enough that it needs its own category. This show reminded me and made me feel nostalgic of 2015-16 when I use to travel to the south of  France and to Spain to play this style of music on fancy Yachts and bars/clubs by the beach as the sun was setting. Good times!

Lots of new lounge goodies, Disco, surprise edits including new fire that I receive as a promo this week from my friend @larslb on his label Deeper Shades of House that was just perfect for this episode and to close it out.  Close your eyes, relax, and enjoy the sunset.

Welcome to EP 313 of the NDYD Radio Show as we return to our old friend The Yacht to chill and enjoy lounge interpretations of our favorite tunes. I ended up splitting this mix into two parts as the original one take set is almost 5 hours long (!!). I was so into this set while making it that I just kept going very late into the night - almost until the sun came up. Thank God I wasn't working the next day :) Next week I will post the second part  but for now enjoy the first two hours and come chill with me.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
