... and here it is. The second part of last week's yacht lounge mix. As I said then the whole thing is over 4 hours long so I thought it would be a good thing to split it into two sections. If you play them back to back you will notice that it was one long set. I think i got the chill vibe out of me in these last two weeks so next week back to our regular deep house, disco, and just damn good music. BTW getting the chill out of me doesn't mean there will be no more Yacht Lounge. I still have enough chill tracks to fill at least 4 more episodes. If you are a fan, like I am, of that amazing DJ & artist whose initials are MF 😉 and who is the one that popularized the Mushroom style 🍄 years ago then you will dig this episode. A nice variation of underground jazzy Hip Hop and R&B that starts at 95bpm and cruises closer to a House vibe by the end.

The NDYD Radio Show EP317 - Mushroom Yacht vol 1

Welcome back to OUR HOUSE. EP318 brings us back to underground Deep Beats and Melodies after taking a 'Mushroom Yacht' trip last week. EP318 is a full two hour episode of some of the freshest Deep House floating around. It is bookended again with my two favorite tracks of the week. It kicks off with @dirtytwo who are my new favorite duo in the scene. They are not new but I just discovered them through @nofussrecords as I was going through the label's releases. This Swedish duo is the real deal. I mean, some of the best Pop and Disco bands came from Sweden so why wouldn't they excel in Deep House also right? I think I feature them 4 times in this episode as they have such a great catalogue.  

We then close the show with my other favorite track of the week which is a new banger from Sammy Deuce on @saltedmusic. There are more Salted Music promos through this episode that are out already or will come out soon at your favorite digital music store.

Next week Mushroom Yacht vol. 2 will be the next episode. Vol 1 got such a good response that I am not gonna wait too long to have the second part hit your ears. I already started selecting the tracks for it. The beautiful thing about what I do for work is that I am free to listen to music all day so Vol 2 will carefully be curated with more underground jazzy Hip Hop and R&B that is current and from the 90s. In the meantime enjoy the deep dive of EP318.

Welcome back to the NDYD Radio Show. In this episode we return to the Deep End of the of the NDYD pool. If you are familiar with the show you know that the DEEP END series  focuses  on Deep House only and I believe that volume 4, aka EP320, is the deepest one so far. 

Moody, melodic but still wants to make you dance into the wee hours of the night. Perfect soundtrack while you relax, taking a long drive, or are doing an activity with your headphones on and still want a steady 4x4 beat that makes your head bop.

The NDYD Radio Show EP320 - The DEEP End vol.4

Jack is definitely back. After I recorded this episode I realized that 85% of the tracks I was playing were Jacking House. Feels like on every episode I focus on one of the House subgenres and stick with it. This set takes me back to when I was part of the West Coast Collective (WCC) and we were known for playing this style of House and why we use to get booked at so many underground gigs.

I also think that I got inspired by the gig happening in Hollywood on Nov 19th where I will be one of the DJs supporting Derrick Carter from Chicago. If you know DC you know that this is very much his style. If you are in LA on that date you should come by Station 1640 which is in the heart of Hollywood cause it's going to be a great gig with a legend behind the decks and talented local LA selectors supporting him. More details coming soon on my IG. 

For now enjoy this high energy set that is a great companion if you listen to music while you work out. I can't wait to play it myself when I go for my daily bike ride. Welcome back to the NDYD Radio Show. A tad late because I was in the middle of doing another set for the radio station KXLU here in Los Angeles. Once they air the show early this week I will post the archive here because it's so deep. I really like how it turned out. Nothing to take away from EP322 because I also like how this one turned out. It's ready for the dance floor and if this episode doesn't make you move then you should probably check your vitals :) 

Speaking of shaking it on the dance floor if you are in LA Sunday Nov 19th then stop by Station 1640 in Hollywood as I'll have the opportunity to close out the night at that club right after the legendary Derrick Carter does his thing. I'm also gonna try to record my set if possible. Hope you can make it if you are in town.

It's not even Christmas yet but look at the gift we received this week.

EP 325 of the NDYD Radio Show has the head honcho of NDYD -  Kris Santiago (@krissantiago) steering its wheels. Kris is one of the listeners favorite as he has graced the show's decks many times before. Those listeners, and myself, know the kind of high level talent Kris is and that he always delivers a top shelf mix. Kris is very versatile also. If you follow him you know that he excels in Disco, Nu Disco, House, edits, and even Hip Hop!

What I didn't know is that he also excels in Deep House. EP 325 could have been part of the Deep End series because the sound is sophisticated and mature. It's the kind of set with music that never gets old and that will still sound fresh years from now.

The NDYD Radio Show EP325 - guest mix by Kris Santiago

Welcome to the NDYD Radio Show. Happy New Year to all the listeners!  As promised last week here is the 2023 compilation (and the first episode of 2024) of some of my favorite tracks that I played on the show during the year (this is only part 1). These are not necessarily tracks that came out last year, some go back almost 20 years, but they were all played in at least one episode of 2023. 

The method to my madness was that I picked 1 or 2 tracks from each of the episodes of 2023. This gave me a total of over 100 tracks which is the reason why I am breaking up the 2023 compilation into different parts to make it manageable.

This week is part 1 and next week or the week after I will upload part 2 which will be the rest. This has been a labor of love and I hope that if you are a regular listener you will recognize some of these favorites from the past episodes.

Next weekend I will be in Seattle to play at the famous Monkey Loft which is the reason why part 2 of this compilation might be up the week after but the plan is also to record my set at the Monkey Loft to include it as a future episode.

The NDYD Radio Show EP327 - Best of '23 Part 1

Welcome to EP-328 of the NDYD Radio Show where we take a detour to Seattle, WA for a live recording from the famous Monkey Loft - The sound of the underground in that city.

I had an absolute blast at my first gig of 2024. It wasn't my first rodeo at 'The City of Goodwill' but it was close to be one of my favorite visits this time around. It was special because the Monkey Loft was the first club that I ever played at in Seattle years ago and the heads over there sure know how to handle a dance floor. No house track was underneath their dancing. I also had the privilege to meet some fans and followers of the show that came to say hi and told me that it was the reason they were there. The def put me in the right mood for the night.

This set is dedicated to you Seattle fans - you know who you are :) I hope this brings good memories of an awesome night. Thank you to all who showed up and we will do it again for sure.

The NDYD Radio Show EP328 -  Ricardo live from The Monkey Loft Seattle - January 6, 2024

The music of West Coast DJ, Ricardo Torres can best be described as a blend of deep, soulful house, and disco inflected with the particular sound of the west coast vibe, sultry and smooth. He plays the music that  heads love to dance to; confident that when the music flows from hands that loves the underground it can be an uplifting, groovy and sexy experience.

Ricardo has been on a quest to achieve that perfect mix ever since his first chance encounter at the turntables, in 1987 at his college radio station in Montreal, Canada. His first 12" records were from the Industrial Electronic Music of that time.  Shortly thereafter in 1988, he was first introduced to House Music. Ricardo quickly changed his direction and followed the early days of Chicago House.  He moved towards this style of music since he found it to have a new and unfamiliar energy within itself.

In 1995 Ricardo, moved to Los Angeles, a city basking in sunrays and radiating the good vibes he himself perpetuated. And here, Ricardo discovered the funky, soulfulness of the west coast sound.  Many of his early heroes such as Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, and others gave him the desire to gravitate towards this deeper, more soulful West Coast style.

While still a local Los Angeles DJ, Ricardo - inspired by his love for this genre-decided early on in the year 2000 to post his mixes online to share with the world. This was fairly new and innovative at the time. This act of sharing his musical vision without prejudice or limitations caused him to be sought after to play his brand of house music in cities all over the world. He continues to offer up his masterful mixes, as host of syndicated radio shows online as well as on satellite radio in the USA.

Within the recent past Ricardo joined forces with Nu Disco Your Disco out of Germany for representation and affiliation. This modern Nu Disco sound, to him, is the perfect way to bring that West COast vibe into the future and the new generation. Since NDYD has been a pioneer in bringing the Nu Disco genre to the masses in Europe he felt that they would be the perfect partner for doing the same in North America with their established brand. Hence, the syndicated NDYD Radio Show was born.  The show has been on the air for over a year now and besides Ricardo hosting and DJing it every week, some of the best talent in the industry and from all over the planet have been guest DJs and taken over the show. The loyal following keeps growing episode after episode. 

Underground music trends and styles have changed since Ricardo played his first vinyl record all those years ago but what hasn't changed is that he just loves playing music that inspires the heads to get up and dance!
