From the Vault

I had a recent request from an OG listener to bring back some of my 'classic' sets from the days I was part of the West Coast Collective (WCC). I still have dozens and dozens of these sets on my old hard drives and I am remastering them for Soundcloud and to broadcast on d3ep.com

Here is the first one that dates to 2004 (!). Don't let the date scare you cause the tracks are still as fresh as they were back then with artists like Mateo&Matos, Dweli (remixed by David Harnes), Fred Everything & Roy Davis JR, India. Miguel Migs, and many more great artists from those years. This whole vinyl set is also one of the first online broadcasts that I ever did (streaming in the RealAudio format at 64kps) on one of the first online radio stations from the 2000's - Planet Soul Network based in Toronto, Canada.

I will bring more of these sets and put them on a Soundcloud playlist that will be called 'From the Vault'. I hope you will enjoy this trip as much as I did when I recorded it 20 years ago. I have to say that I am not mad at my mixing from back then considering this was all vinyl and live (you can hear the crackles and pops at the beginning). The NDYD Radio Show EP308 - Ricardo Live on Planet Soul Network all vinyl set

We return this week with another edition of 'From the Vault' all vinyl series. The year was 2002 and I had made my first mix CD that I would physically mail (for free) to the listeners. There was an online version of this set but the quality was not great in the Real Audio format at 64kps.

Now this set has been remastered for soundcloud for high quality streaming. These were the years I was obsessed with labels like Naked Music. All my money would be spend buying and ordering vinyl from this legendary label or any white label that was in that sexy Deep House style from the early 2000s

If you were around then and even might have attended the old Scuba underground parties that Naked Music use to throw in San Francisco then you will feel right at home with this set. 20+ year old music that still sounds and stands fresh for those After Hours sexy nights.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
