DMX Was my favorite rapper through out my teenage years... So I wanted to mix dedicated to him. I was actually already planning on dropping this mix on May 12, the day he released his first Album in 1998.... But due to this weeks unfortunate news I decided to drop it now

When I was in High School I was really into Dirty South Hip Hop. This was in the late 90's before the Trap and Crunk styles blew up, and Chopped & Screwed was just starting to get popular. The south was a bit more soulful and dark back then. It appealed to me as a teenager because I was already into Soul and R&B but southern Rap had that extra edge to cater to my teenage angst, and it helped me deal with the fucked up neighborhood I grew up in. I'll never forget when I first heard Goodie Mob's album "Soul Food". That album changed my life and to this day I can still rap every line, front to back. The one line that I used to repeat over and over in my head was on the track Sesame Street: "13 and a half years old, standing at the bus stop alone in the cold, on my way to be, degraded for a fee, to help get my family off the street, called Sesame." I was 13 when that song came out and had to catch the bus to school everyday. I was the only white guy in my school, so I was always alone, or fucked with. That line was inspiration to work as hard as I could to get the fuck out of the ghetto. I listened to that tape til it snapped and I had to buy the CD. Eventually the CD got so scratched that I had to buy it again. After discovering Goodie Mob, it was only a matter of time til I got into Outkast, 8Ball & MJG, Devin, Mystikal, Mr Mike, Juvenile and the rest of the South. I was obsessed with southern rap and it was when I first really started to collect music on a massive scale. In a way, you can say that Southern Hip Hop got me started as a DJ.  Crunching nearly a decade into one mix, and staying within a certain BPM range, left me with a lot of hard decisions. There are so many artists that I had to leave out, but I managed to fit 32 of my favorite tunes from that era.

Bio:
Nebakaneza, aka Danny Delorean is your favorite DJ's favorite DJ, and a true encyclopedia of many genres of music. 

When he was old enough to get a job, he started working at various record stores, but all his earnings went right back into buying music. He majored in radio broadcasting, soon becoming the music director for his college radio station, and won an award for broadcaster of the year. He then created his first DJ alias: DJ Imani, and started spinning Trip Hop and House 4 nights a week at various bars and clubs. Around this time he started working his day job at a big name radio station doing audio editing for Ryan Seacrest and voice over work for ads. He eventually landed his own late night electronica show, acting as both music director and host. He also held a small internship at Om Records, as well as the Surefire talent agency, and eventually started his own wedding DJ business to get some of that sweet sweet normie money.

After getting sick of hearing Top 40 all the time, and falling in love with Dubstep, he created the Nebakaneza alias and started a weekly event in San Francisco with his business partner Johnny 5, called Ritual, which lasted for 6+ years and at one point was the largest reoccurring Dubstep event on the West Coast. They expanded into Los Angeles and other clubs in San Francisco. Later, he became a music director for another commercial radio station, Live 105, for their late night Dubstep program, Wobble Wednesday. He was on the cover of the SF Bay Guardian newspaper and won their annual Goldie award. This alias expanded from just Dubstep and now includes Midtempo Bass, and Electro/Breaks/Detroit Techno, among other face smashing beats.

He created a third alias: Danny Delorean, to spin Synthwave, Nu Disco, and other fun bouncy music, and soon after became the co-host of Turbo Drive, which is the longest running, and largest monthly Synthwave event in the world. He would later become a manager at DNA Lounge nightclub, acting as the Talent Buyer, and marketing manager, then the General Manager and Bar Manager at Temple Nightclub in SF.
