Prolific Italian producer Kaiser makes his long awaited debut on Soma with a perfectly executed 4 track EP, The Way Back. Having been present on the scene through releases with Planet Rhythm, Animal Farm and more recently his own K S R imprint, Kaiser's style is a mixture of abrasive, hypnotic Techno blended with element of minimalism, glued together with a solid amount of groove. 

Title track The Way Back reminisces to Birmingham-era UK Techno with it’s thundering rhythms and twisted synth hook. Tales Of The Future takes things on a more futuristic tip as spacial polyrhythms build the structure of this very functional track. Ramping up the pace a little more, Loud Cries builds incessantly as impulsive percussion drives this perfectly crafted tool. Clubbed to Death finishes off this Soma debut EP from Kaiser with a speedy broken beat as atonal pads and drones create a densely packed, atmospheric and climactic track.

pre:szure is the new nebula event series focusing on the fast and rough aspects of techno music. since the collective's foundation and its general focus on the hypnotic components of techno, more and more (old as well as new) members additionally have been exploring the harder facets of this genre. for the second edition the collective teamed up with berlin-based Bipølar.

In this new installment of the ABSCAST mix series we present Chimachine, one of our core artists and a Cuba's Techno Scene regular. With just a few years active as a DJ he has great support among the artists and ravers thanks to his well curated and dance-floor focused sets. 

Raw, muscular and hypnotic sounds that plays with textures and acid lines could describe the character of his sessions. Tons of influence from the 90s and 2000s and a great programming as well as a killer selection, smoother at times and more harder other times, are the elements that truly characterize him at his sets. Also great tracks released previously on the label and many more to come makes this Cuban asset a real diamond of the local scene.

Quarantine Strømcast

Polish-born and Edinburgh-based, ona:v began DJing years ago, but only started playing in Edinburgh clubs in 2019. Since then, she played in some of Edinburgh's best techno venues, as well as secured residency at Fnoob Techno Radio and Edinburgh's EH-FM community radio. She also founded an all-female electro/techno DJ collective EPiKA - their launch night, scheduled for the beginning of April, was cancelled in the face of global pandemic. While this mix is very much about techno, you can typically expect a healthy dose of electro in her mixes. As the lockdown progresses, ona:v plays faster and faster.

Methodical is the newest venture from Italy’s MTD who introduces his latest alias with debut album titled Focus. He is also the owner of the seasoned label Sonntag Morgen and as an artist, has seen his music on imprints such as Animal Farm, Blackrod, Affekt, and Gynoid Audio.

This eleven track pack is nothing short of total excellence, with diverse ideas, yet solid club functionality. Familiar and new is difficult to achieve for any artist and we hold him in high esteem with no sign of filler, which is hard to find in the abundance of the digital world. Proving his production pedigree and consistently hitting the spot, this album is essential to real techno lovers.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the track “Köln” that gets into some mental pleasure with its hypnotic techniques. Using spacey drones and wonky modular stabs to create a moving and morphing sonic masterclass of exceptional analogue beauty.
