Catartsis (aka Mathieu Bonnafous) is an artist based in Paris. With a background in sound engineering, he discovered concrete music through his studies, which greatly influenced his work. This led him to explore the practice of field recording, which is now the foundation of his creative method. Catartsis confronts the sounds offered by our industrial and natural environment in his organic productions. His search for unique rhythms and textures allows him to create atypical sound pieces that blend genres, borrowing from the English electronic scene, early 2000 and current techno, as well as the new French industrial techno scene. He tries to integrate these trends into his DJ sets, bringing a wide range of sound to dancers and listeners. He co-directs the independent label @ygam with Ōtone.

Milana - AreaAudio 034

Milana explores the convergence of freetekno, electro, and warped breakbeat genres to weave her own forward-thinking sound. While her style tends to adapt with the environment, Milana's sets and productions are most commonly landmarked by genre-fluidity, polyrhythmic grooves, and quirky vocal samples.

In addition to music, Milana works closely with fellow artist and collaborator, Anne Trinh, on The Void - a nebulous interior design project creating dark, dream-like environments in unique event spaces. So far, they have worked with local collectives Endzeit, Club Moniker, and Agape to bring various iterations of this idea to life.

Milana also comprises half of the DJ duo TWINS ONLINE, a project focused on high-energy beats drawing from London's queer underground rave scene.

Vector Field is Antoine, a sound technician, producer, and DJ. He has
been active in the electronic music scene since the late 90s starting
collecting records and mixing on vinyls in small raves of the
countryside. Drawing from various experiences, he transmits positive
energy through its own music, infusing it with his special touch, a mix
between layered rhythms and evolving soundscapes with that kind of
kinetic energy. From old alias Stigr to Vector Field he has released
many Lp’s and Ep’s with a different approach each time.

Junya Yamamura began his career as a DJ and organizer while studying abroad in New York. After returning to Japan, he has continued to curate unique parties that transform various spaces—ranging from nightclubs to art venues—primarily in Tokyo. In 2021, he launched his event series “lift” alongside Ryosuke Tushiya of Pflaume Sound.

Mix Description:

This mix was recorded during an open set at my party, “lift.” Designed to set the tone before a live performance, it focuses on creating a deep and introspective atmosphere. Through gradual transitions, the mix evolves to shift the energy of the space, maintaining a serious and immersive vibe.
