Réflexions sur un après-midi européen is Akiva David's first symphonic composition in neoclassical style. The six movements are a sweeping orchestral journey through the elegance, melancholy, and romance of continental life. Blending the lush Romanticism of Rachmaninoff, the lyricism of Grieg and Schumann, the refined textures of Alexandre Desplat, and the haunting modern tension of Nicholas Britell, these pieces transport the listener into the salons, boulevards, and piazzas of an eternal Europe. Each movement captures a moment—fountains in Rome, a café in Paris, a winter canal in Amsterdam—woven together in a cinematic tapestry of memory, desire, and timeless beauty.
