This was my absolute jam in 2004. I used to wear it out back when Scott Storch was my favorite producer. Benzi reached out to me a while back about remixing it and I knew it had to be done right. I really tried to give this track the feeling it gave me when I first heard it. Nothing too over the top, just smooth and sexy. The 808s really hit on this one. I think it's perfect for Valentine's Day.

20 years ago Toby Marks AKA Banco De Gaia released one of the classic albums of modern electronica - Last Train to Lhasa - whose groove inflected, multicultural soundscapes helped to form the blueprint for much of today's global electronica.

To mark the anniversary of its release, Disco Gecko Recordings have created a limited edition, physical only (no downloads or streams) 4 disc box set, featuring previously unheard alternative and extended ambient mixes as well as a handful of fresh remixes by like-minded artists.

To kick-start the celebrations, Banco De Gaia asked Ukraine’s AstroPilot and Dublin’s Silinder to add some 21st Century flavour to the title track, which is probably still his best known composition – ‘You know, the one with the train?’

Dmitry Redko, the producer behind Astropilot, has shared a stage with Banco De Gaia at events on many occasions over the last 10 years and consistently impressed him with his approach and style. His remix is no less impeccable, as he harnesses Lhasa’s ambient elements to build a low intensity trance groover.

Silinder is Dublin native Gavin Mulhall, who came to the attention of Disco Gecko after posting an unofficial remix of Heliopolis on SoundCloud. The mix was so well thought out, the label asked to use it as a free download to mark last year's Maya 20th anniversary re-release.  His progressive house rub is primed to set dance floors alight, with added weight at the bottom end and a slight increase in tempo.

The new EP was originally programmed to include an extended, twelve minute ambient mix as well, but iTunes’ arcane style rules prevented that from happening, so this mix will now only be available from the Banco Bandcamp page.

Das Leben ist wie eine Reise im Zug:
Man steigt oft ein und aus, es gibt Unfälle, bei manchem Aufenthalten
angenehme Überraschungen und tiefe Traurigkeit bei anderen.

Wenn wir geboren werden, und in den Zug einsteigen treffen wir Menschen, von denen wir gauben, dass sie uns während unserer ganzen Reise begleiten werden: unsere Eltern

Leider ist die Wahrheit einer andere.
Sie steigen bei einer Station aus und lassen uns ohne ihre Liebe und Zuneigung, ohne ihre Freundschaft und Gesellschaft zurück.

Allerdings steigen andere Personen, die für uns sehr wichtig werden, in den Zug ein.

Es sind unsere Geschwister, unsere Freunde und diese wunderbaren Menschen, die wir lieben.

Manche der Personen die einsteigen, betrachten die Reise als kleinen Spaziergang

Andere finden nur Traurigkeit auf ihrer Reise.
Und es gibt wieder andere im Zug, die immer da und bereit sind, denen zu helfen, die es brauchen.

Manche hinterlassen beim Aussteigen eine immerwährende Sehnsucht...
Manche steigen ein, und wieder aus, und wir haben sie kaum bemerkt..

Es erstaunt uns, dass manche der Passagiere, die wir am liebsten haben, sich in einen anderen Wagon setzen. 
Und uns die Reise in diesem Abschnitt alleine machen lassen. 
Selbstverständlich lassen wir uns nicht davon abhalten, die Mühsal auf uns zu nehmen, sie zu suchen und uns zu ihrem Wagon durchzukämpfen.

Leider können wir uns dann doch nicht zu ihnen setzen, da der Platz an ihrer Seite schon besetzt ist. 
Macht nichts, so ist die Reise: voll von Herausforderungen, Träumen, Fantasien, Hoffnungen und Abschieden... aber ohne Rückkehr.

Also, machen wir die Reise auf die bestmögliche Weise.
Versuchen wir mit unseren Mitreisenden gut auszukommen, und suchen wir das Beste in jedem von ihnen..

Erinnern wir uns daran, dass in jedem Abschnitt der Strecke einer der Gefährten schwanken kann und möglicherweise unser Verständnis braucht.

Auch wir werden öfter schwanken und es wird jemanden geben, der uns versteht.

Das große Mysterium der Reise ist, dass wir nicht wissen, wann wir endgültig aussteigen werden, und genausowenig, wann unsere Mitreisenden aussteigen werden, nicht einmal der, der gleich neben uns sitzt.

Ich glaube, ich werde wehmütig sein, wenn ich aus dem Zug für immer
aussteige...Ich glaube ja.

Die Trennung von einigen Freunden, die ich während der Reise traf, wird schmerzhaft sein. Meine Kinder allein zu lassen, wird sehr traurig sein. 
Aber ich habe die Hoffnung, dass irgendwann der Zentralbahnhof kommt, und ich habe das Gefühl, sie ankommen zu sehen, mit Gepäck, das sie beim Einsteigen noch nicht hatten.

Was mich glücklich machen wird, ist der Gedanke, dass ich mitgeholfen habe, ihr Gepäck zu vermehren und wertvoller zu machen.

Meine Freunde, schauen wir darauf, dass wir eine gute Reise haben und dass sich am Ende die Mühe gelohnt hat. 
Versuchen wir, dass wir beim Aussteigen einen leeren Sitz zurücklassen, der Sehnsucht und sch öne Erinnerungen bei den Weiterreisenden hinterläßt.
