This week Miss J:unia is blessing us with a divine mix of deconstructed club, breaks, jungle, hard techno, electro, and more. Be sure they won't leave any part of you untouched!

"I am currently having a difficult time to process... life essentially. Loss of relationships and the joy of forming new bonds. Change of city, change of jobs, change of education. And then of course societal pressure to live up to certain standards, to perform and to put in work. It's all a lot to cope especially without immediate access to mental health professionals, without secure housing and amidst precarious wage labour.

My mix for me personally reflects my reality. Impulsiveness. Uncertainty. Chaos. And on the other hand, there's a lot to hold onto. Lots of cheerful and driving parts. In any way, my choice of music holds a fair share of random factors depending on who I'm spending time with currently, where my next hyper fixation takes me. It's all really fun and giggles."

Miss J:unia is a newly Berlin-based DJ and creative. With early musical roots in Hip-Hop and Rap, they started to get into electronic music themselves while they were still living in Leipzig. Femmes-to-the-Front driven while recognizing the inevitability of being political as an actress in our spaces, they want to highlight and bring back to memory the historical roots of club music in the struggle of Queer Black and Brown People.

Mathis Ruffing’s Transatlantic debut cuts to the chase. This is getaway music, music designed to vaporise your long-dormant adrenal glands. ‘Skybox’ is made up of tracks that surge like quicksilver through veins, pulsing, flexing, relentlessly disciplined in execution. These tunes are crystalline and shimmering, eight sleek and streamlined club constructs rendered with what feels like the precision-engineering of some advanced alien DAW.

Opener ‘Ultranova’ hits like a cyborgian headbutt and refuses to let up. It’s followed by the one-two punch of the title track and ‘Hitherto’, which install cooling, gaseous pads and synths within breakneck drum&bassian exoskeletons. ‘Crater Edge’ and closer ‘Raytraced’ offer cryochamberesque respite from the cold-blooded fury enclosed within this release — well-earned breathing room in an album that takes hold with crisp and calculated force. Pure focus.
