Bio:
Despite the many weird and wonderful submissions they get from Joe Public at Data Transmission – think everything from bottles of homemade hooch to used underwear – Data Transmission freely admit that we were most surprised to receive a cassette accompanied by a polaroid photo of alphabetti spaghetti spelling out ‘I AM RON MEXICO’ in the post at the tail end of last year. Intrigued, DT dusted off their Walkman and gave the tape a listen to find that what was on offer, was, well…surprisingly good!!! They then set about finding him online, only to find that there was not a single mention of him on the internet.

Several weeks passed and having written Ron Mexico off as an elaborate prank concocted by the over active imagination of one of their many friends with far too much time on their hands, Data Transmission didn’t expect to hear from him again. Then the postman delivered a bottle of tequila every day for twelve days. A postcard then followed, with the following message inscribed in Spanish “Now you’re suitably inebriated, perhaps we can talk on Facebook”. One brief chat later, Data Transmission had arranged for Ron to come with us to burgeoning snow festival, Rise, wherein we’d meet the mysterious selector in the flesh for the first time. His rider, predictably contained a variety of mescal, alongside “1 semi-inflated inflatable shark, a frozen banana and a copy of the Karate Kid on VHS”. The time in the French Alps with a masked Ron was fleeting and having ingested what we’d consider a potentially lethal amount of Mexican spirits, Ron Mexico left as much of an enigma as he’d arrived.

6 years on and Ron Mexico became the selector of all music for Data Transmission

After some gentle coaxing and assurances by Hobbs (UK) that he wouldn’t bring any “cameras or cops” ‘Ron’ instructed him to meet him at London’s St. Katharine’s Dock at 10.47 AM precisely with the promise he’d see him. And see him he did. Arriving by jetski, the still masked Mr. Mexico disembarked on to a pontoon wherein they set about creating 'Scolarisé à Domicile'.

Born in Casablanca, Dimey made his first steps in music electronic alongside the morrocan collective Runtomorrow in 2012.
Wishing to develop electronic music in Morocco, he worked in the organisation of several events  in Morocco (Boiler Room, Moga Festival and more). In 2017, he created with Mendy the very known duo Nomads, since the creation of the duo, they have performed in big festivals like Moga, Oasis or SXM and they play alongside the biggest international DJs in the world.The musical style of Dimey has no border, he does not like to be restricted to a predefined style. Thus, its mix and podcasts are in the image of his mood. The best is to let you discover his music by yourself.

Over the last few years his unstoppable rise has seen his music make its way into the sets of the biggest names in the business including Claude Von Stroke, Solardo, Todd Terry, Low Steppa and Jamie Jones, Carl Cox dropping his hit “One House’ at his closing party at the legendary Space, Eats Everything smashing his remix of Human Resource, ‘Dominator’ at Warehouse Project in Manchester, while Paco Osuna hammered it in nearly every set he played that summer, Monki premiering his first release ‘Bump Shake’ on his own label Shanghaied on Radio 1 and Black Madonna finishing 2018 for him in style by dropping his unreleased track ‘One Green Laser’ on her Radio 1 show and telling him she loves him – What more can any DJ want!

Music always had the magical power to connect people. With surprising facility it overcomes boundaries and distinctions and can create a strong alliance between people, no matter how different their backgrounds are. 2040 are Alessandro and Paolo, two guys who physically experience this phenomenon daily. Alessandro is completely smitten with the essence of sound, the curiosity to create it and combine it with rhythmic elements. Paolo plays the drums and is struck by rhythm and the division of time; a passion that led him to explore different instruments and musical territories. Despite all this diversity, it was a similar taste in music that brought the two together and made them start 2040; a musical dialogue between two people, expressing to each other the different ways music impacts their lives.
