Following his debut appearance on Anjunadeep’s Explorations 05 earlier this year with ‘Plane Mode’, Dmitry Kuzmin AKA Nuage is back with his new, carefully crafted EP ‘Thor’. In stark contrast to the frigid cold of his home city of St Petersburg, ‘Thor’ is an warming incarnation of uplifting electronica. From the feather-light ‘Electricity’, to the deeper, vocal ridden ‘Whirl’, ‘Thor’ showcases Kuzmin’s capacity for emotive songwriting and nuanced production.

The French Hungry Music imprint is closing out an exciting year 2018 with a bang! Having just finished off the Hungry 5 anniversary tour with colleagues Worakls and Joachim Pastor - N’to now presents his latest creation, named after his first born son “Charlie”.

Once again N’to handcrafts an unforgettable soundtrack, built around his powerful, signature sound. “Charlie” features a sub heavy bassline, thick drums and an effect drenched, mesmerizing melody. Layers of percussion provide the backbone for the musical parts and hold everything together in perfect style.

Sunday's Child is named after the composer; born on October 3rd 1993.

An upbeat theme for an imaginary movie character. Sunday’s Child can
overcome the most difficult obstacle.
They’re strong and brave, inspiring & friendly. Loving and energetic.

The early stages of this track were written when my digital Yamaha synthesizer wasn’t plugged in properly. It sounded scratchy, unique and perfect.
Almost like a field recording on a bed of stones.
Next came the synth loops and the drum parts. Background synthesizers create a pulsing ambient characteristic.

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer. 

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal. Multi Culti, promoting local collaboration, one freaky record at a time.
