Perth based drum & bass imprint ProtoCode present ‘Uncreator’, the latest EP from their new signing 
Nemean. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Nemean is an up-and-coming producer who specialises in 
gritty neurofunk designed to make the body move. With three releases on The Tech Collective under his 
belt, ‘Uncreator’ is a fine addition to a growing back catalogue, showcasing a producer capable of 
moulding distorted sonics into certified dancefloor heaters.
Kicking off the EP is the title track ‘Uncreator’. Here, Nemean mixes warping sounds, pummelling rhythm 
sections and slabs of thick, distorted bass. The result? A mind-bending soundscape, as though each neuron 
of the brain is transmitting energy into sonic form.
‘Son Of Malice’ opens with macabre pads and a snarling bassline. The latter is expertly placed in the mix, 
adding depth to the intro’s ominous feeling; as ‘Son Of Malice’ progresses, the track shifts into a melodic 
riff, with Nemean building hype with intense rhythms that drive the track forward. When the drop hits, it’s 
all hands on deck: throbbing bass lines hit the ear and mutate, with Nemean sculpting distorted sounds 
into a heavyweight drum & bass thrill ride.
Warp speed drum patterns define the closing track 'Abaddon', adding intricacy to the tune. Sitting atop of 
them are pulsating bass lines and interchanging melodies, the combination of sounds only unrelenting in 
the ethereal build up before the second drop. Ending the EP on an energetic tip and primed for the 
dancefloor, ‘Abaddon’ is a full-tilt drum & bass banger.
“Uncreator” will arrive exclusively to Beatport & Spotify for two weeks on 28th September, before landing 
on all digital platforms on 10th October

As we make technological advances further and further at an ever-increasing rate, the foundations we’re building upon seem less and less stable. This birthed the ‘What’s Wrong? EP.
A two-track offering, ‘What’s Wrong?’ the opener. is a soundscape of bleak proportions with a deranged and unstable drop. Unstable distortion is impaled by dissonant arps as the listener is dragged further and further into the chaos. This is an absolute ear ruiner with inspiration taken from pain and terror. An homage to our societal decline. What’s Wrong? ….this is.

‘New Dimension’ is the other side of the coin. With new technologies, there’s always new hope and opportunities, but at what cost? It’s all spacey SFX year 3000 pads with a mighty heralding reese bass solo before the equal parts techy and groovy drop. The track is ‘Rise of the Machines’ and you’re there to witness it. Watch out for the ground-shaking half-time section bringing up the rear. We may have already gone past the threshold point….

Since Document One's first release on Technique Recordings, they've formulated a particularly volatile compound of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and tech. And they've proven its effectiveness by chalking up enviable levels of radio airplay, DnB chart status, and rave destruction. Now, there's a brand new five-track EP to deliver another dose.

This time, Document One are exploring the darker side of their nature, guiding us into the shadows with the upright-bass-meets-murder-minded-rap of “Haunted Spaces”. The EP's title track builds through a sparse intro into a rhythmically-twisted drop. The punch and snap of kick and snare are coupled with a driving fusion of natural and synthetic basses. There's a heartbeat of dancefloor funk, but this is no laid-back, casual groove. It's a gritty, evil piece of music that sets the template for the rest of the release.

As we move through “Pulse” and “Newton”, we're taken deeper into the neuro side of Document One's sound. Epic sci-fi landscapes build into claustrophobic cyber-nightmares, populated by gritty basslines and metronomically savage beats. “Pulse” explores the call-and-response structure, giving us an intergalactic frequency-range war. “Newton” does things differently, focusing on laser-guided missile strikes of low-end to drive the track along. Here, these producers prove they can strip away the jazz and go for the pure dark tech flavour without sacrificing any of their dancefloor energy.

“Rudeboy Fashion” does something different again. Still, though, there's no lack of that wide cinematic space, even when the rap vocal motif rolls in. The ultra-clean drums that drop with pitch-bending and modulating basses give this a feeling of classic techsteppers but brought bang up to date. Here, Document One show that they're capable of exploring multiple sub-genres without losing the essence of their style.

To round off the EP, “Clergy” adds yet another twist to the tale. Reverberant pads and effects swirl around a restrained but rolling beat. Basslines morph and modulate in the low registers, while the emcee verse conjures night-shrouded imagery. This is a stripped-back production, with Document One combining just a few perfectly-constructed elements to create the vibe. Very dark, and a tune that discerning dancefloors are going to love.

This EP is set to reconfigure our expectations of Document One. It has their production fingerprints all over it, but presented in a different, more midnight-tinged, package. It just goes to show the artistry in their style, and it's clear these tracks are another milestone in the onwards-and-upwards Doc One progression.

His sound is a melding of uneven bass-lines and melodic hooks characterised by his love for darker sounds. Guided by intricate percussion and snappy production, Nemean's songs are designed - down to the core - to make you move.

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Rory Webb aka Nemean was introduced to heavy music at an early age. He wholeheartedly threw himself in the punk and metal scenes as a teen but entered the electronic music scene in his early 20s with DJing and production after never quite finding his passion with an analogue instrument in his hand.
Now, influenced from the harder edges of music Nemean sets out to deliver face melting Neurofunk.

Nemean has been relentlessly pushing forward with his latest series of remixes with Zombie Cats and deput EP on Eatbrain 'Possession'. His heavy repertoire includes releases on Hanzom Music, Code Smell, Abducted Records, Root97, Cause4Concern, Code Smell, Bass Rabbit, Kill Tomorrow, and The Tech Collective. His latest EP with Hanzom Music is furthering this as momentum with some of his most polished and forward thinking tracks to date. Big plans are in his mind and unreleased music is plentiful.
