In the heart of the sprawling Metropolis, there are places where silence should reign. A rain-beaten sewage slab creaks open into a bottomless abyss, an old industrial wasteland sees the few sickly reeds growing there bent under foreign footsteps. Something silent is going on here, for in the darkest places a new light shines: yellow, it belongs to another world. A world where the only law is growth by devouring. This is the law of the tyrannids, grotesque abominations whose very genes seem coded to kill and consume. Each world is then just another dish on the infinite succession of the menu that is the universe.
