Jo Def is releasing his first official album, 'Steps', on Soulection November 19. A timely release that comes during an experimental and fluid epoch in electronic music – 'Steps' proves to be a soulful, west-coast inspired footwork masterpiece.

With varying influences from Jukesquad to Tek Life – the original Chicago footwork crews, Jo Def carefully combines west coast leaning, bass-heavy vibes with traditional syncopated footwork sounds to produce a cohesive listen all the way through.

The lead single “SWIM”, wraps a wavy, filtered sounding Sade vocal with bass stabs and head-nodding tempo for a sexy yet danceable time.

Here we are with our 150th session! Wow, big ups to everyone who tuned in live. We had so many listeners that Kbeach's server's were overloaded. We are so happy that this talented & vibrant woman SOSUPERSAM finally came through the studio. It's been a long time coming and we're happy that you finally get a feel for who she is musically and as a person. Wasn't quite sure what she was gonna play for us, but she showed a great diversity and really brought us back to a place that was very much needed towards the end of her set. She's even cooler as a person. Being humble and driven will always get you far. Joe Kay really brought out a diverse selection of music. If you missed the live broadcast then you missed out on an exclusive 25+ minute session that went past our 3rd hour and that only covered unreleased exclusives from our forthcoming catalog. For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt there was something truly mysterious about this world, and always wanted to find out just what that is. I think I may have found out some of it, but I also think I’ve only just scratched the surface. That’s kind of what this album is about. Until recently it had always seemed to me as if everything around me was so out of context, nonsensical, random. Finally I am beginning to understand that everything is connected, and I’d really like to keep exploring that, so here is something in context.

Depuis toujours, j’ai senti qu’il y avait quelque chose de vraiment mystérieux à propos de ce monde, et j’ai toujours voulu découvrir ce que c’était. Je crois en avoir découvert une partie, mais je pense aussi que je n’ai fait qu’égratigner la surface. C’est un peu l’idée de cet album. Jusqu’à récemment, il m’a toujours semblé que tout autour de moi était hors de contexte, insensé, aléatoire. Finalement je commence à comprendre que tout est connecté, et je voudrais vraiment continuer à explorer tout ça, voici donc quelque chose dans son contexte.

July will see Ejeca kickstart his new label Exploris with a three-track EP.

Nominated Breakthrough Producer at Best of British 2013 and one of the most bookable names in the UK and beyond after big tunes on Needwant, 2020 Vision and Aus, the Belfast-based DJ has decided go his own way with a new label, but it's not exactly what you might expect.
