One of the most accomplished and revered producers in electronic music today makes his solo debut on Kompakt: French mastermind AGORIA joins our release fold after a foretaste with his stellar 2013 remix of Michael Mayer's "Good Times" (KOMPAKT 272), presenting us with his new mesmerizing floor epic BAPTÊME. 

"I'm very happy that BAPTÊME will finally be released", says the producer, hinting at the track's long and winding path to completion: "it's a very special tune for me, representing a lot of changes in my personal life these last two years. It signals my 'second life', if you will". Meaning "baptism" in French, the cut's title is indeed a perfect fit for its particularly festive spirit, exuding both solemnity and sheer pleasure, hallmarks of AGORIA's unique brand of emotional and versatile techno. Bouncy, minimalist percussion is joined by an extensive, dub-styled sub-bass and floating shards of atmospheric synths, quickly escalating into a high definition mover fitted with gorgeous swabs of piano and a keen sense for emotional space.  

On the flipside, the original track gets a fascinating rework from DJ Tennis and The Rapture's Luke Jenner, whose LUCKY BLUE EYES VERSION adds more wiggle room to the proceedings, bolstering its loosened grip with enticing new vocals. In yet another step forward, AGORIA himself revisits the remix, sharpening its blurry edges and successfully putting the vocals to work in a prime time environment: "my friend Patrice Bardot - the chief editor of Tsugi Magazine - even said that this one sounds like The Doors for the 21st century", he adds - and indeed, it's next level dreaming for those who need a little bit more from their floor than just another knock on the head.

I discovered the track "Away from" on "Death Star Droid"  - the last album of Robot Koch electronic artist/producer/dj extraordinaire. I had a song i had written that needed a home ("Dreams of You") and after listening to "Away From" 5000 times I finally worked up the courage to ask Robot if we could introduce the two ideas. Robot said 'sure!' like it was no big deal so we've embarked on this fusion of worlds whilst living across the road from each other in Berlin. Artwork by the freq genius - Thrashwolf.

Tony Capparelli aka Neon Funk is an electronic music producer; he made is debut with several bands as singer and guitarist.
His references are rather eclectic and go from John Barry to Led Zeppelin, major composers familiar with electricity yet not electronic.
 
Discovering Chemical Brothers’ “Exit Planet Dust” in 1995 changes dramatically his vision of music and leads him to electronic music.
 
Once he created his record label EARSTUFF a few years later, he releases his first Trip-hop productions and he discovers a new way to envision music and to convey his mix of genres.

He produces a series of singles, which were heard in several compilations with French “spoken vocals” against a backdrop of Downtempo compositions as his signature.
 
After many years traveling around the world and making human and musical connections, Tony Caparelli comes back with a mind full of images and memories. 

Thus he starts a long period of creation in studio when he explores new ways to produce and shapes his style.
 
Using two drums in his productions enables Neon Funk to deliver a powerful rhythmic section that rejuvenates the Chill Out tonal style akin to DJ Spooky “Illbient”. 

Yet here, the organic dimension is made a priority as in Nightmare on Wax “Les Nuits” by emphasizing a great number of acoustic instruments such as the guitar; but mostly by putting emphasis on strings omnipresence.
 
A new style more cinematic such as the soundtrack from our lives’ footages whispered in French: this is what remains Neon Funk’s very signature.
 
A charming cruise that take us from Formentera beach to a New York rooftop, from iced latte in Venetia to an iced mojito on one of Copacabana beaches … a music that lulls the oblivious nimbleness of our apathetic—nonchalant – dispassionate lives: an invitation to forget about our daily lives.
