I wrote “Shine Rain” about wanting to escape into a perfect moment. The title comes from that thing when it rains AND it’s sunny, so the raindrops and the wet streets turn white. I love it when that thing happens! Damn I should have titled the song “That thing”.

Shine Rain

I wrote “Smile” about the experience of Lyme disease controlling my emotions and thoughts to the point where it feels like someone else lives inside me.

My favorite descriptions of "Smile":
"An absolute failure as a mainstream pop song." 
"Was it supposed to have an anxious, menacing quality? ...Good, cuz I felt anxious and I felt menaced."

I wrote “Tree Eyes” imagining that some evil force of nature could follow and invade you without you realizing it. Tree eyes creep me out, man! They’re always watching…
