The debut release of Soft Shadows is the product of their previous band, Sundaze, parting ways. With the new formation, the band shifted from heavy, distorted guitars to a more vocal central mix. Lighter and free. This album is not about personal experiences, but an observational piece based on simple fictional characters living their day to day lives. Influenced by "Being John Malkovich," each song is a filing cabinet window into these individual characters.

The balance between synthesized and acoustic sounds is a push and pull between June's fascination with electronics, yet always falling back head over heels for guitars. Vintage synthesizers and drum machines coupled with the warmth of all Fender Jazzmasters, Jaguars and amplifiers. The band succeeded in marrying the two in sonic harmony. The track "Whatever You Say" is the centerpiece for this record, in which all other songs were written around. 

Soft Shadows have played with Ringo Deathstarr, The Prids, The Upsidedown, WL, Snowden, Jetman Jet Team and Hibou. The band is part of the Sundance Channel +  Nokia Music documentary "New American Noise," under the vision of up-and-coming director Abteen Bagheri (Blood Orange, A$AP Rocky, Delta Spirit, The Presets) that premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival 2013. 

The band just completed a Fall West coast tour to promote this release, including an in-studio session at KSPC. "Whatever You Say" is also a current rotation in KXLU's Part Time Punks radio library. The band is also consistently featured by DKFM radio.

Ringo Deathstarr, a musical trio from Austin, TX, have been putting out records since 2007. Consisting of Elliott Frazier (guitar, vocals), Alex Gehring (bass, vocals), and Daniel Coborn (drums, vocals), their sound is born from a love of melody, a love of guitar, and a hatred of pompous vocals. Finding it to be too much fun, the group has expounded upon the sounds of the masters before them. This desire to play the music they were too young to witness as children has taken Ringo Deathstarr around the globe, performing in places as far flung as Israel, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Europe, Canada, and the continental USA, supporting favorites like …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Dean Wareham, The Wedding Present, and The Smashing Pumpkins. With two Full length records (Colour Trip and Mauve) and a handful of EPs and singles in the bag, now is the time for a new EP, “God’s Dream,” which was recorded in Austin and on a ranch in Dripping Springs, TX. For this record, the band reunited with Chris “Frenchie” Smith, who co-produced their debut EP.
