While some producers spend years finding their feet, Russ made a clear statement of intent with ‘I Can’t Wait’ his debut release on Crosstown Rebels, a solid cut of nu-school house that was charted across the board, with ‘Rock Me’ the B-side being picked up by DJ Mag and featured on their ‘Best of British’ covermount compilation.

The last few years have seen him repeat this success with a string of hugely popular releases on labels such as Hot Creations, Viva, Rebellion, No.19, and the label that gave him his big break, Crosstown Rebels.  With a truly global fan base, Russ regularly tours worldwide playing the most prestigious festival's such as Tomorrowland, Kazantip, Global Gathering and playing venue’s such as Tokyo's Womb, Berlin’s Watergate and Circo Loco at DC10.  This summer in Ibiza saw his third season as resident for Jamie Jones’ Paradise.

An artist whose roots lie half in Nigeria represents today for what we understand as House. Percussions, drifty hypnotic beats, a touch of soul and marvellously deep. House is a feeling and Ray Okpara has his finger firmly on the pulse...

Despite coming to prominence during the media's 2008 obsession with Frankfurt/Mannheim via releases on Cecille, Oslo, Get Physical and Area Remote, Okpara has been instrumental in Germany's flourishing house scene for well over a decade. Initially taking to the decks in the mid-90's, Okpara quickly found his groove. 

As with most DJs, the production itch had to be scratched. Lomidhigh Ltd, Drumpoet Community and Arearemote are an enviable bunch to count as early adopters for any budding producer and this start made just strengthened Ray's resolve. Rejoining his tight knit group of friends, now running the Oslo, Deep Vibes, Cecille and 8-Bit imprints, after a four year relocation to Berlin in 2005, Ray's reputation was cemented and the rest is history.

Now based back in Berlin with a heavy touring schedule as a DJ and a dedicated live artist, Okpara continues to go from strength to strength. His Ama label rolls out consistently quality output in an unhurried manner while his own productions continue to hit home for crowds, critics and record buyers alike. As well as ongoing relationships forged in his Mannheim days, affiliations with Oslo and Mobilee are being nurtured and with many more projects still to be unveiled the future is looking pretty rosy for the cheery guy.

Mark Farina is a DJ and producer, known for his Chicago house, acid jazz and downtempo works and recently known also from house compilations, El Divinio. He is primarily identified with the house music scene in San Francisco, California, where he resides, but DJs widely around the world.

Gangstercast 69 bings Farina’s usual or unusual variety of underground chunky funky goodness to new listeners and old heads alike. For the mix he’s  selected  some goodies from his arsenal of new underground jammies with just a vibe in mind to fit this Gangstercast. 
For Farina the House Gangster movement mean  is about capturing the spirit of the days when there were true gangsters listening to house in chicago in the late eighties, a certain rawness, toughness, trackyness and attitude that combines into certain style of house.

After starting the mini Dekmantel Selectors podcast series two years ago, it feels like a tradition to bring it back to life. In the next couple of months, we will release 6 podcasts by some of the exciting artists from the line-up. This year’s podcasts challenges the artists to work around a theme or idea they picked theirselves. Next up: the talented duo from home grounds, Strange Boutique.

Strange Boutique a.k.a. Femke Dekker and Nicole Martens have two important things in common: their love for art and music. Whilst Dekker works as an art curator at De School, Martens is a visual artists and every now and then teaches design at the well-known institute Willem de Kooning over the past years. The kindred spirits they proved to be excellent curators: not only when it comes to art, but also behind the decks, playing everything in between ambient, experimental music and more crazy exciting stuff. That being said, inviting them over for their debut at Dekmantel Selectors sounded like the ultimate match.

In anticipation of that, the duo served up a mix full of tracks from outstanding artists like Beatrice Dillon, I:Cube, Green Vision, Cos/Mes and De Leon. Danclefloor gems meet experimental vibes. Strange Boutique: "Usually when we’re asked to create a mixtape, there's this one song that becomes the core of the mix and the way it's build up.  In this case it was 'Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest’ by The Fireman. Most of you will know that The Fireman is the moniker of English producer Youth aka Martin Glover of Killing Joke and the Orb fame and Paul McCartney. Both of us are huge McCartney fans and both his solo work, as well as The Wings and of course The Beatles has found a way into our various projects." Get to know the duo at its best.

"It feels like I started all over from scratch," Kerri Chandler told us in a recent interview. He was of course referring to his relationship with Circo Loco, the Italian party brand based out of DC-10 in Ibiza. After a period of persuasion Chandler agreed to play for the crew at their 2010 opening/closing party and has since become an integral part of the family, making multiple appearances throughout the 2011 season and generally stepping up his worldwide DJ presence. It was evident in our talking with Chandler that the partnership had rejuvenated him in many ways, although that's not to say he was somehow struggling before. Chandler is known as one of New Jersey/New York's most celebrated and important house music practitioners, with a recording career stretching back to 1991 and a classics-lined discography to prove it. As part of our on-going VS series, Chandler will link up with Chez Damier—himself a revered house music institution—for a back-to-back session this coming Saturday night at BeCool in Barcelona for our annual off-Sonar soiree. 

Rolling, timeless house music is the order of the day on RA.315, a warm-up to this Saturday's festivities and a showcase of where Chandler is at in 2012."
