Neptune Project - A Question Of Reality (Album Review)

Throughout the last decade, Neptune Project have been at the top of their game, cementing their reputation amongst trance and electronic music fans as both DJs and producers and achieving international success.

Five-time world number one DJ Armin Van Buuren was among the first to champion their sound, supporting their second original single “Aztec” in every live performance for seven months and pronouncing it his favourite track of 2009. From there the duo saw their original and remixed work grace world-renowned labels such as Armada, Anjunabeats, Vandit, and Future Sound Of Egypt, making themselves a regular feature in the DJ sets of both A-listers and bedroom DJs alike ever since.

In order to celebrate their tenth year as artists, the duo wanted to culminate their achievements with an original album that both showcased their talent as producers as well as their personal inspirations. Paying heed to visionary movies such as Bladerunner, Inception, Interstellar, the TV show Westworld, as the work of Stanley Kubrick along with metaphysical philosophy, the ultimate result is their debut album “A Question Of Reality.”

Throughout their career Neptune Project have remained loyal to their fanbase in remaining true to their signature musical style – complex and emotional chord progressions, intricate use of samples, lush and delicate vocals, all blended with the euphoric melodies that made their name. As an album, “A Question Of Reality” delivers all these things luxurious, ambient, journey, narrated at various times by the likes of Terrence McKenna, Alan Watts, Elon Musk, and Graham Hancock, along with vocal tracks made special by their lyrical introspection.

Spanning over fifteen tracks, “A Question Of Reality” blends a broad spectrum of different styles and bpms, all while maintaining a cohesive atmosphere and feel throughout. The concept of the album is for it to focus on the listener and allow them to enjoy it as a personal experience to interpret in their own way. As such, the duo have chosen to do no interviews during the promotion of the album, allowing everyone explore it from a genuine carte blanche.

With an imminent album tour and selected tracks from the album with huge remixes still to land, 2019 seems sure to become the pinnacle of Neptune Project’s career to date, with even greater things yet to come.

Neptune Project - A duo consisting of Dan Willis and Jules Moyce are creating their own legacy in trance music with not only their unique vintage production sound, but also due to the global demand of their extended sets. So many fans have been left in sheer amazement after witnessing these marathon performances, which can only be described as 'the ultimate journey' in trance.

With their track 'Aztec' being named by world number 1 DJ, Armin Van Buuren as his favourite production of 2009,  the UK pair have gone on to have releases on all of the major labels including Anjunabeats, Armada, Vandit, Subculture and Future Sound of Egypt. Along the way they have also remixed for the likes of Above & Beyond, Paul Van Dyk, Aly & Fila and produced an incredible modern take on Pink Floyd's music.
 
With their own Mythology label focused solely on their own productions, combined with the innovative platform Amplifyd, Neptune Project are a strong driving force in the world of trance.
