Pandemonium Matrix

The first release from Markham Road comes in the form of a VA spined by frequent collaborators of its sister platform Infame Radio (@infameradio).

The nine tracks vary along a scale of percussive rhythms both relating to established and experimental ideas. As a trial in itself, this project took shape through exponential conversations between all those creatively involved.

"After releasing my album this year, I’ve been exploring experimental sounds using modular and vocals. When Dani approached me to be a part of this release alongside other incredible artists, I was eager to contribute an energetic club track. I’ve had the bassline and vocal idea in my mind for some time now and I set out to bring it to life using my arsenal of grooveboxes, modular synths, analog effects and a mixer. It took me few sessions to fine-tune the balances and dynamics, as I was determined to create a track that could be pitched, allowing people to choose their desired tempo." — Warzou

MSJY commences the dance, wrapping some deft breaks around a steamy reggaeton shell. Viiaan douses the loose dembow groove with a hypnagogic mood and chuggy bassline. Dåser maps out an itchy labyrinth of percussive electro that relentlessly mutates. Mossambi unfurls a futurist digi stepper brimming with excitable technoid energy. Octoptic indulges late 00’s dark
2-step but updated with remarkably modern sound design. Elpac and Mulholland combine to burn twisted breaks within an all-consuming rave menace. Baitface provides us with a loving
throwback, an unreleased gem from 2012 fit with dub momentum and snappy snares for the headbangerz. Henzo flicks the hood up and gets nasty for a dialed-up skankstep wonder. Soreab opens his third eye with a haunted drumtastic half time chug. soltura sees us out with an icey wub finale of stirring synth-etic emotions amidst a melodic wonderland of sound.

MR002 sent in direct from Brno covers a sub-scape of sounds reflecting a current shift in the scene. Count’s sophomore EP showcases a versatile and refined style both in idea and application. Brno’s newest emergence has already had a hand in much that the scene has to offer. Between being a resident/booker at filtr and a regular host on Infame Radio, many have heard count playing at other venues such as Vitamin, Fraktal, and Ankali.

Taking form over a range of bpms, three original tracks accompanied by two remixes come together to shape this tightly knit project. The first track on the EP aptly named “WORK” is an enigmatic drum puzzler highlighted by the familiar voice of Missy Elliot. The track also comes as break-y dance floor heater when remixed by Brazilian -> Berlin based producer/DJ alys(alys)alys. Moving forward to “SPLIT”, a slow stepping wub of a track that is sure to take even the most menacing systems to the red. Stocked with its fair share of change ups, the track also gets tuned to run quick in a remix by Australian producer Lithe. The remix features a rendition of the track reminiscent of a calmer time, although still with its full share of sub attacks. The EP closes with the more introverted rhythm of “STICK N POKE”. This final track finds its niche within the opening or closing of a set when atmosphere is at a premium.

French disrupter Jan Loup debuts on Nerve Collect with a new EP that channels her emotional response to events of the last year into a bold collision of dubstep, breakbeats and drum and bass. Maquis Son Sistèm as well as label co-founder Gamma Intel remix two tracks on the EP which arrives digitally on May 18th.

This EP, "In My Fury", is the sound of her channelling personal challenges into empowering music that serves as a soundtrack to a therapeutic warrior dance. 'Shanti' opens up with lurching broken beats and malfunctioning percussion against a backdrop of witchy wordless mantras. It's a dense and eerie dystopian world that leads into the more ethereal 'Oda Damo Asodi' backlit by celestial white light as ghoulish sounds and fractured drums come at you from all directions. 'Mojo Nosoa' is jittery dubstep with menacing low ends and jumbled metal sounds conveying the breakdown of a factory and 'In My Fury' is built on a heavy half-time rhythm that fizzes with caustic sounds.

First to remix is Maquis Son Sistèm aka Stefan Dubs, a sound system music innovator who tangles disparate sounds into trance-inducing rhythms. His take on 'Shanti' is a deeply hypotonic world of loopy sound detailed with sonic bacteria, alien life forms...  more
