I was honoured when Pierre Chrétien asked me to do a remix of the single "Parasite" just around  the "Manifesto" album release.
This version was only previously released on a promo CD that I'm aware of and has never been publicly available.
In a recent conversation with Pierre I asked is he was cool with me putting it up on my Soundcloud for "you all" and he was in.  I then spoke with label head of "Do Right! Music", John Kong, to make sure everything was cool on his end and he was down.

Group Bombino is a music group og Agadez, Niger by Tuareg guitarist Omara Moctar and some associates. Their music consists of guitar-based political protest songs of the Tuareg people's rebellion against the governments of Niger and Mali.
AkizzBeatzz delivers a stunning remix of their “Kamoutalia” track (from their album “Guitars from Agadez”) by keeping the superb guitar-ish vibes of the original and adding his own uniqe flavour in order to create a dancefloor Oriental bomb!

David Axelrod was one of my favourite producer/arranger (and my PSN user name - daxelrod) , especially as I was looking for breaks and samples as a younger beat producer. One thing you needed to know about Axelrod's tracks is that even if it sounded like it didn't have any samples (usually found at the beginning of a song), there was always a segment of the song that you could just lose your mind to it and load it right away in the MPC. David Axelrod's sound was very unique, and extremely innovative for his time ( as an arranger in the mid-1960's/as a producer in the late 1960's) - focusing on heavy drums and baroque string sections. He heavily collaborated with Cannonball Adderley, and also artists such as David McCallum, Gene Ammons, the Electric Prunes and Lou Rawls. He's been sampled by The Beatnuts, Diamond D, Madlib, Dr. Dre and so many more. 

Axelrod's touched many subjects in his songs, ranging from spiritual, environmental or musical interpretations of poems. Let's celebrate his legacy and embrace his heritage.

Al Massrieen was one of the first bands I learned about once I discovered the tape format. They were really popular in Egypt in the 1970s and the more of their music I found on either tapes or Arabic pirate mp3 sites, the more I was becoming a fan. Only very few bands from the region can match the band’s versatility as well as their strive for innovation. Hany Shenoda is the man behind the Al Massrieen band. He is a reknown figure of the Egyptian music scene and has worked with everyone from Abdel Halim Hafez to Mohamed Mounir. Al Massrieen was his attempt to introduce his ideas of modernizing Egyptian music, heavily encouraged by Naguib Mahfouz (Egypt's only winner of the Nobel Price for literature) after discussing his ideas with him.

Side A’s cover of Tearz is as much an homage to the Wendy Rene sample as it is to the Wu-Tang Clan track.

The song starts as a glazed over cover of "After Laughter" with Shannon Wise of The Shacks singing Wendy Rene's timeless mantra. Halfway through, the mood dramatically shifts and the drums and organ that drive the original RZA sample, take over. A dubbed out Lee Fields taps in like only he can, and the song spirals into outer space.

Side B finds EMA dipping into the deeper side of the Wu catalog with Raekwon’s Verbal Intercourse. Mixing the grimy, gritty production aesthetic of the original with elements of dubbed out reggae, El Michels Affair once again pushes the definition of a “cover” and truly makes it a tune of their own.

From Hip Hop to Soul, then from Soul to Beatmaking, Sly Johnson never really changed universe. Today, it’s immersed in the mechanics with processors and printed circuits that we find him, under the alias of TAGi, producer-beatmaker who, for the occasion, has joined the services of Steven Beatberg. It’s together, in artistic autarchy with the only presence of softwares, samplers and sequencers, that they have built their pieces in the light of their computer screens. 

After three EP dominated by instrumentals, the  duo finally chose to realise  their dream: to craft  a  multi-voice  album  where  customized  production  for  each  guest  would  guide  the creative process. 

Rapper Big Pooh, the former member of the Little Brother group (With Phonte & 9th Wonder), the contemporary soul of Lisa Spada, but also the rapist #madeinfrance Pumpkin (worthy descendant of MC Solaar, Fabe ...), multi-faceted Georgia Anne Muldrow, the MC Finale, the new rising wave of artists of the Hip-Hop scene in Detroit. Tiemoko from Paris, Saga an MC who follows the pure tradition of the New York Hip-Hop, the very smooth-jazzy Elodie Rama and Dilouya, the producer of the previous record of Sly (The Mic Buddah), are of this casting where men and women share the roles and where TAGi as soon as the mic presents itself to him, becomes again Sly Johnson for some refrains, choruses or solo rereading of the sublime "Retrograde" of James Blake. 

Guided by Hip Hop since the 90's until today, worked in great detail, YOUARESURROUNDED highlights vintage keyboards on granular rhythms, injecting a lascivious Soul, P-funk, electro futuristic or melancholic in black and white touches on 13 tracks that are as atmospheric as they are emotional.
