Two imprints from opposite sides of the Atlantic come together in 2015 in the name of 'BRSTL Hardcore' – the new, four-track EP from Brazilian-born, Bristol-based DnB producer, S.P.Y. Following a prolific year on his home label, Hospital Records, where he released his acclaimed double album totaling 24 tracks ('Back to Basics Chapters One and Two'), S.P.Y has collated four originals to be released via NEST.

S.P.Y (real name Carlos Lima) explored a darker, edgier sound in Back to Basics last year, reflecting on the early days of Drum & Bass in a noble nod to the old school. And while 'BRSTL Hardcore' carries on some of the redolence of the 90s sound found in the double album, the EP’s main attributes lie within the energy of the production, with S.P.Y concentrating on maximum bass levels aimed directly at the dancefloor. From the snarling punches in “BRSTL Hardcore” to the dramatic atmospherics of “Mass Effect”, the new EP from S.P.Y boasts a gritty, stripped back aesthetic that both DnB newcomers and longtime Hospital Records fans can equally appreciate.

Just a listener.  I salute all listeners of 140, DnB, Grime!!

I dj’d in my 20’s during the iconic rave period, and returned to my passion about 8 years ago, I took this to a new level during lockdown when streaming took off. I’ve continue to stream for the likes of Skankout, Epidemik, Audio Chemistry, (UndergroundBass), Midnight Massacre & BreaksFm.  I have also played at Code Red Radio and Rough Tempo. This has given me opportunities to play out. I have played at festivals, clubs and private events. Mount Fest, Tropical Garden and Dubslingerz. I’ve also played at The Arch & Volks in Brighton as well as several club bars across the South Coast and now starting to get bookings further up the country. I’m known for my animated quick mixing, cutting, double drop style with 3 decks which produces a huge energy from the crowd.
