Spectrem melds finely-manipulated real-instrument samples with heavyweight programmed sounds to create an ultra-modern cinematic blockbuster of a tune. Continuing to affirm himself as a pinnacle figure within the realm of drum & bass, Grafix is back with yet another solo smasher featuring the vibrant vocals of Chrissie Huntley, the voice behind his previous dancefloor smash on ‘UKF10’ - ‘Break The Cycle’. Following on from the successes of his recent releases including ‘Distressed’ and ‘Zephyr’ (feat. Ruth Royall), the versatility of Grafix’s style beams through as he strays from his grittier sound to deliver energising melodies and uplifting vibrations on ‘Onyx’.

Ambient pads wrap around Chrissie Huntley’s resonant vocals from the offset before electrifying sonics crescendo into a drum & bass explosion of feel-good chord stabs and rhythmic synth plucks. Grafix’s latest cut implores dancefloor sounds and euphoric melodics, setting up ‘Onyx’ to be a futuristic D+B anthem saturated with an irresistible bassline and on-point drum work.

2020 has been a defining year in Grafix’s career. Undoubtedly one of the most exciting acts to have emerged in drum & bass over the past decade, Voltage has joined forces with Hospital Records for the release of his long-awaited studio album ‘Balance Over Symmetry’ which marks the tenth year of his journey as a solo artist. No stranger to the Hospital family with an album, 2 EPs and a handful of singles under his belt as part of drum & bass powerhouse group Kings Of The Rollers, it’s now time to explore the solo sounds of Voltage which have slowly but surely carved him to be one of the most respected DJ & producers in the scene.

In his true rambunctious style, Voltage sets the swing with a wild card. ‘So Close’ is a sub-120BPM synthwave weapon which matches his retro-inspired fashion to his musical vibrations. The combination of catchy vocals, an 80s-esque bassline and an unforgettable topline melody sees the creation of something extremely different yet irresistible from Voltage. Not straying too far from the roots of his influences, ‘Natty Love’ features the groove inducing vocals of sound system legend Sweetie Irie. Saturated sub wobbles juxtaposed with potent string plucks are intertwined with ease, peppered with that signature Voltage flair.

Teaming up with reggae and dancehall superstar Demolition Man known for his skill as a vocalist, producer, MC and sound engineer, ‘Life Of A DJ’ combines the sounds of Demo’s with Voltage’s unmissable sonic technique. ‘Save Me From Myself’ exposes the lighter side to Voltage as he illustrates his versatility as an artist through a soul-heavy amen roller with a classic liquid bassline.

Reminiscent of the days of euphoric hardcore, ‘Keep On Dancing’ sets the vibe with uplifting piano chops and adrenalised vocals as crunchy snaps and rhythmic cymbals keep things moving beneath. An iconic duo to everyone who knows their drum & bass, Voltage and Evil B come together for ‘Odyssey’ which sees ambient soundscapes and earnest lyrics on a truly heartfelt piece of music.

Degs’ latest release on Hospital Records sees a series of brand new interpretations of tracks from his debut album ‘Letters From Ndegwa’. Featuring six fresh remixes, adaptations and stripped back editions, ‘Versions From Ndegwa’ breathes a new lease of life into the original classics including renditions from Bladerunner, AC13, Winslow, T.R.A.C & Karina Ramage and Degs’ collaborative neo-soul project with his brother - Kikuyu Soul. 

Bladerunner offers his weighty interpretation of ‘Sleepless’ (feat. Pola & Bryson) to get things underway. No stranger to laying down a killer remix, ethereal arpeggios float above the original three-note melody which paves the way for a sinister bassline and rolling drums. Young gun AC13 steps up next with his take on ‘The Roots’ originally produced by jungle long-timer Missing. Rumbling reeses and the soothing harmonies of Degs’ vocals set the track up before splashy amens and a classic liquid-style wobble bass take the lead.

Slowing things right down, it’s a family affair on the Kikuyu Soul version of ‘Levitate Your Mind’ as Degs and his brother MURIUKI team up to deliver a downtempo edition of the drum & bass original produced by Unglued, a real moment from the album already surpassing 1 million streams worldwide. Silky smooth keys, solemn strings and a hip-hop style beat lay the foundations for Degs to continue to spread his message of love and positivity. 

‘Colour My Soul’ also gets the Kikuyu Soul treatment, as well as an official remix from US-based rising star Winslow. For those who have got their ear to the ground, it’s no secret that Winslow has been making serious moves. His version of ‘Colour My Soul (feat. Logistics)’ infuses airy atmospherics which complement the uplifting vocal melodies of Degs, with the UK meeting the USA on this stunner of a remix.

Following on from his Head Trip Sprayout project back in May, that encouraged MCs and vocalists from the drum & bass community and beyond to record themselves performing over Degs’ ‘Head Trip’ (feat. Phil:osophy), two entries came to fruition on an official release on Hospital Records. Legendary American MC T.R.A.C’s verse and the vocals of Karina Ramage see their sprayouts combined on this special version of the track!

Since signing with Hospital Records back in 2018, Degs’ meteoric rise up the ranks has seen him make serious waves. From curating guest mixes for the likes of Charlie Tee and Andi Durrant on Kiss Fresh to launching his very own Degscast series, it’s been nothing but success for Degs since previous hits such as ‘Poveglia’ and his ‘Mixtape Sprayout’, quickly establishing him as one of the most versatile singer/songwriter, MC, and vocalist in drum & bass.
