Carrying 12 musical promises of the Grammy-nominated producer, including collaborations with tyDi, Adam K, Aqualung, Tritonal, JES and more, this is the future sound of 2013.

The official follow-up of the critically acclaimed ‘If The Stars Are Eternal So Are You And I’ and Grammy-nominated ‘These Hopeful Machines’, is an album that reconfirms Brian Transeau’s status as one of the most cutting edge artists both in and outside the EDM array. BT has left an indelible mark on electronic music and the technology and techniques that make it possible. The architect behind classics such as ‘Flaming June’, ‘Every Other Way’ and ‘Love Comes Again’, is the creator of the legendary Stutter Edit and has worked with the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears, Tori Amos, David Bowie, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Peter Gabriel and many more. It’s impossible to frame his experimental and genre-bending sounds, making ‘A Song Across Wires’ a real flight of the imagination.

‘A Song Across Wires’ is the accumulation of over 20 years of pioneering music and innovation in the dance music scene. Recognized as the godfather of trance and progressive house, this album is a return to his roots in many ways. From the intriguing soundscapes of ‘Skylarking’ and ‘Vervoeren’ to the vocal smashes of ‘Must Be The Love’, ‘Stem My Tide’, ‘Surrounded’ and much, much more. ‘A Song Across Wires’ is BT fulfilling his art.

This song is one of my favorites from the new album "A Song Across Wires". I wrote this track on acoustic instruments (guitar, a six string fretted cello I had built that's like a bass or baritone equivalent of the viola de gamba, glockenspiel and others). Tydi and I worked together on the track (beats and bass) over email and eventually in person. We had a blast in the studio on this and eventually the culmination of these efforts was sent in a rough state to the country artist Plumb.

She wrote a wonderfully simple and catchy vocal. We worked with this vocal for a while and it became apparent after some time that her management and representatives had a different idea about what this song should be and what it should be for so we began looking for new singers (still bummed about this, Plumb is a great artist).

Enter Tanya Zygar. She is friends with Tydi and we sent her the track and she wrote a beautiful verse melody. I sang a multi-track chorus top line and sent it back to her. We went back and forth with iterations of lyrics and eventually settled on a nautical theme (which I love). Stem the Tide is an expression originally used to mean that a ship was sailing against the tide fast enough to make headway over the ground or to move faster than the tide in the opposite direction. 

I spend about a week after all this doing vocal editing, glitching and comping and eventually laid the vocal into the final mix.

All said and done, this song probably took in work hours the better part of 2 months. I worked on in in Logic 6.43 on a 24bit PT rig (OS9), OS X Logic 7 and 9, Live 8 and 9 and was stem printed from Logic 9. 

My favorite thing about it is the acoustic instruments playing in tandem to the analog synths, plugins and glitch elements. Very proud to share this one with you.

 After a rain-stopping performance at Glastonbury last week, Little Dragon have announced a surprise London show at Corsica Studios as part of Boiler Room TV. The gig will be streamed live online between 7pm-8pm on Tuesday 18 July at http://www.boilerroom.tv/live

Having already been all over the airwaves with ‘Wildfire’ by SBTRKT on which they feature, they are is set to continue their meteoric rise to success with the release of ‘Ritual Union’ which has already bagged plays from Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Lauren Laverne, who said they are “the coolest band in the world right now”. DJ Shadow seems to agree, having asked them to collaborate on a track for his long-awaited new album. The 12” and digital download will come with an acapella version of ‘Ritual Union’ and two remixes. One is a super smooth offering from on-the-rise German producer Tensnake and the other comes from house producer Maya Jane Cole, currently being streamed on iTunes here:

Since 2009’s critically acclaimed Machine Dreams they have not sat still, touring the globe and making some high profile friends along the way. Damon Albarn invited them to collaborate on two tracks for last year’s Gorillaz record Plastic Beach, which became album highlights for the critics with Pitchfork describing the songs ‘Empire Ants’ and ‘To Binge’ as “two of the most arresting things here; they’re airy, elusive and amazingly beautiful”. Similarly, David Sitek was so taken with singer Yukimi Nagano’s voice after touring with them in 2009, he asked her to lend some vocals to ‘If You Return’ from his solo project Maximum Balloon. And now Big Boi will be producing one of Little Dragon’s songs for his new album, after a certain Andre 3000 tipped him off. As if that wasn’t enough, they appear on Rafael Saadiq’s new album adding vocals to the sublime summer track ‘Just Don’t’.

Ritual Union the single will be release 25th July, with the remix EP to follow on the 15th August.

'The Day We Ran Into The Sea' is a musical memoir that details the raw, universal feelings and experiences we all go through when dealing with break-ups and shakes-ups, love and loss. Each song on the album has a commercial pop sensibility in line with bands like Fleetwood Mac, The Carpenters and The Corrs. However, Sarah's distinct, haunting vocals portray a more left-field leaning, reminiscent of Beth Gibbons, Regina Spektor, and Kristin Hersh. The album is a mixture of folky, acoustic elements and electric guitars, laced with Celtic elements (contributed to by producer Jon Reynolds, who's worked with the likes of Sinead O'Connor). The album also features sonic contributions from Head (PJ Harvey), Adrian Hall (Sugababes) and Matt Prime (Will Young).
