Pat McGee is a singer/songwriter from Virginia. He is honored to call Sam and PRF his friends. Pat's10th album (due out Spring 2015), features "Take The Long Way"--a song McGee crafted after Sam's passing in 2014. The lyrics, written in first person, are McGee's interpretation of Sam's infinite wisdom and love for his family and friends-- some words inspired from Sam's recent Ted Talks and the HBO Documentary, and others from remarkable words spoken at Sam's funeral by so many. 

Sam and Pat go way back to when Sam was just three years old, hanging out on Pat's tour bus and over the years, sitting in on drums & percussion for Pat McGee Band shows. The groups' members attended Sam's drum recitals as well as School of Rock performances. Sam was a far greater influence on PMB than the band was on Sam. His favorite song of theirs, "Passion", was worked into the 2nd verse of "Take The Long Way" and the song boasts an all-star cast of some true music icons. Dubbed "The Section" back in the early '70's, these same musicians helped craft James Taylor's, Carly Simon's & Jackson Browne's sound. 

Before recording "Take The Long Way", McGee explained the deep meaning of the song to these legendary studio musicians. They were profoundly moved by Sam's story and delivered this recorded performance live in just one take.

Sam was and will always be an inspiration to Pat, his family (a father of 4 children) and his band members. Sam's courage, selflessness & deep love and appreciation for all the good in the world is a way of life that will be shared and paid forward more than Sam could have ever dreamed.
