Made for KVR Audio's "One Synth Challenge" #178

This month, it was "Vaporizer2" by VAST Dynamics Software. Vaporizer2 was the only synth used across multiple instances, including all drums. Only stock-effects and perpetually-free effects were used to process them and the master, as well as a special rule for the month that allows commercial plugins as well. Other usual rules apply: no samples or self-modulating effects.

Each autumn, when the heather turned purple on the hills, the bagpipers came down from the highlands. At first, the village children heard only a faint drone, like the earth humming underfoot. They would freeze in their games, eyes wide, and scramble up into the oak trees to see better.

The sound grew, weaving and swelling, until it filled the valley like a storm of music—low drones rolling like thunder, sharp notes flashing like lightning. By the time the pipers emerged from the misted slopes, it was no longer a handful of men but an orchestra carried on the wind itself.

The villagers gathered in silence, listening. Year after year, the same mystery unfolded: a reminder that the mountains still breathed, and that the world above the clouds sent down its song to be heard.

My Submission for August 2025 OSC. 7 Tracks, powered by FLStudio and Quilcomm's Trout. Maximus for loudness.

Based on various incarnations of the Trautonium - a Synth Design originating in the 1930's. I chose Trout because I've wanted to try my hand as something very old and very strange with the plugin. And oh my - it's strange.

Cover is AI generated this time - Colors and some things fixed/added afterwards. My blender skills aren't THAT good. 

Early synths defined some of the sounds and vibes that powered Science Fiction, so I went with something that evoked a dangerous and strange job in space. Enjoy!
