AUX records gave me the opportunity to remix a track from their back cat and, on johnny's recomendation, the only option was this tune from neurodriver.

i have been a fan of everything neurodriver has done for a long time now (since the far too loud days) and i appreciate what Dom has given us in creating an outlet for the "psy" breaks vibe that we are all so passionate about.

soooooo, on that tip. i wanted to make a tune that was a little left of centre, out of respect from dom,  and link in to that detailed tech vibe that neurodriver does so well.... this is what came out. its my first finished minimal tune and i learnt a lot working on this one so i hope it works! 

 big ups AUX and big ups Neurodriver and most importantly... big ups MUSIC :D

We were first introduced to the captivating sounds of the Sheffield based producer known as Simba, through Skream’s weekly Radio 1 show, after he premiered this EPs standout track Bejewelled, back in August. Since then, we’ve been working closely with the illusive Yorkshire-man to craft and hone his sound. The result is his four track debut for Fat! Records and our first original release of 2014.

It really is all about the top lines on Bejewelled. It’s becoming rarer and rarer these days to find such a simple example of back-to-basics club music that before anything else, simply puts a smile on your face. Bejewelled does just that. And more. It’s no nonsense fun and the true essence of what Fat! Records has always been about. Wicked vibes!

Second track Don’t Look recently got the thumbs up from Shadow Child, and not hard to see why. Simba’s genius percussive elements really nod to the likes of Justin Martin and Nick Monaco from the dirtybird camp.
Stepping up the pace on next track I’m Tired, straddling a seriously contagious groove and yet another slant in Simba’s arsenal.

Also receiving heavy support from Skream is the EPs closing track Resonant. Simba really turning up the energy in the final throws with a stomping drum track.
An impressive debut from newcomer Simba here. We welcome him to the Fat! Records family and look forward to watching him grow as a producer over the next few years. You should too!

Having graduated from The Fat! Club last year following his soulful Chicago number Lies Lies Lies, which featured in our free EP005, we welcome Leicester based newcomer Arka to the Fat! Records family with his debut Delusions EP, featuring three solid cuts of stripped back, gritty, dynamic UK House.

We are taken deep into the warehouse on lead track Maya and thrown back out at the end, a shadow of a former selves. A merciless, punishing assault on the senses; just how we like it!
Up next is the distortion frenzy of second track Holding On; a melting pot of jackin’ grooves and super tight percussive fills, with just enough space for you to hold on for the ride!

Closing track I Got What You Need showcases Arka’s versatile palette with its flush, weighty percussion and bouncy rhythm, rounding off a satiating debut release.
With heavy support from Gorgon City, My Nu Leng and Low Steppa so far, we look forward to watching Arka grow from strength to strength throughout 2014.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of playing two sets at the awesome Totem Festival in Quebec. Here is the first of them: 3+ hours of blistering techno, tailored for the dark hours of the night.

It's been a long time since I played a set this long, and it gave me an opportunity to explore a lot of music - from peak-time tracks which are doing it for me at the moment, to some old favourites and of course a bunch of my own productions, including several new unreleased tracks.

Anyway, here it is, and I hope you enjoy it! Ad if this one is too dark for you, then the Sunday set should provide some light relief. I'll be posting that shortly!

Neurodriver, aka Dom Smart, is a UK-based producer, sound designer, audio software developer and DJ, with a long string of releases to his name.

His genre-defying music blends influences from techno, house and psychedelia into a futuristic hybrid of hypnotic sound, expertly crafted for full-range sound systems. Being a classically-trained musician and an expert sound designer, his music possesses an emotional diversity ranging from grinding machine rhythms to moments of sublime beauty– equally at home on sun-drenched festival stages, or dark, peak-time dance floors.

As a DJ, Dom’s energetic and improvisatory sets have rocked clubs and festival dancefloors all over the world, including Fabric, Glastonbury, Burning Man, Boom, Glade, Noisily, and many more. And when he’s not DJing or writing music, Dom develops music software with his company, Devious Machines.
