The Arawakan indigenous word for Iguana; IWANA illustrates this fascinating exotic specimen of the animal world, the most evolute of which, shift their colours according to mood.

This concept embodies the sensory journey the IWANA series provides, each edition of IWANA presenting Bassic in one of it’s varied vibrant colours.

IWANA 01 exhibits the deeper, darkened edge. Ever sensational and occasionally twisted, displaying progressive and psychedelic projects from a blend of Australian and international talents.

One of the original Bassic Records artists, a true staple of the label, Käse Kochen has been a core part of the family since our very first compilation. After two impressive EPs subsequent to our inception, Käse Kochen has spent the better part of two years developing the body of work that he has aptly dubbed “Encounters In Melancholy”.

Apart of the psychedelic and bass music scenes for many years, the derived ethos, aura and creativity aided the formation of this current output of intricate, colourful, hefty progressive techno that knows no boundaries.

Whilst “Encounters In Melancholy” is endlessly emotional, it continuously steers down a darker path, reaching depths and heights of near cataclysmic intensity. 

Shaped by sharp progressive grooves, driven by surreal lifelike basslines, Käse Kochen develops cinematic experiences with each conceptualised piece, resulting in this astounding collection of aural art.

Neurodriver, aka Dom Smart, is a UK-based producer, sound designer, audio software developer and DJ, with a long string of releases to his name.

His genre-defying music blends influences from techno, house and psychedelia into a futuristic hybrid of hypnotic sound, expertly crafted for full-range sound systems. Being a classically-trained musician and an expert sound designer, his music possesses an emotional diversity ranging from grinding machine rhythms to moments of sublime beauty– equally at home on sun-drenched festival stages, or dark, peak-time dance floors.

As a DJ, Dom’s energetic and improvisatory sets have rocked clubs and festival dancefloors all over the world, including Fabric, Glastonbury, Burning Man, Boom, Glade, Noisily, and many more. And when he’s not DJing or writing music, Dom develops music software with his company, Devious Machines.
