This is one of my favorite songs on the new album. I have listened to that 1st "drop" on loop approximately 18 zillion times; it reminds me of the sparkling melodic downtempo I fell so deeply in love with back in the day - exploring the side rooms & chill rooms with avant-garde sound-systems playing music from left field… or spiraling liquid abstract downtempo that would play during sunrise at a free outdoor full-moon celebration. Listening to this style of music was one of the 1st times I really registered in my mind that I was hearing an 808 bass, and it began a whole side-genre for me as a producer: using those drums to strengthen any other genre or sound. And who doesn't love a good vocoder… also a classic sound to my ears from the 1990s rave scene. This one says "We're reaching out to set you free" and it captures that healing energy of feeling rescued by friends (or angels) - this is one of the most important effects music has had on my life: making me feel healed.

So I wanted the 6th installment of my signature compilation to somehow take it up a notch. I wanted to push myself both through style and technique. The goal being to drop more tracks in one cd mix  then I ever have before while still giving you the listener a smooth satisfying breakbeat experience. This mix features 34 tunes with no acapella or loops to boost my track count. This equates to just over 2 mins a song. With a pace this aggressive the trick is making it still flow like a normal mix.  I leave it to you the fans of my mix series to be the judge of whether that goal was reached!

M-THEORY’s pounding open sound reflects Marcello’s evolution as a producer and psynavigator. Inspired by his journeys through outdoor festivals and sonic fields around the earth, he strives in his music for that perfectly round clear kick&bass reverberating deeply through the dancefloor.

Marcello (aka dj MarcHello) is London based act M-THEORY.

MarcHello started djing as soon as he arrived in town from Italy at the end of the Nineties and became involved in the underground party scene. Label dj for Etnicanet Records until 2004, he then moved to Neurobiotic and Free-Spirit Records while also acting as an event promoter, co-founder of the legendary Fairy Tales parties. His passion for digital production eventually gave birth to Cimi, a crossover project between full-on and progressive psytrance.

In 2005 Marcello joined forces with Rob, his partner in their new M-Theory project, and together gravitated towards a faster psychedelic sound with edgy morning sounds, underpinned by phat & funky bass lines. They were signed to Alchemy Records in 2007. The Cimi project was put on hold while M-Theory were producing their first album "Branes", released by Alchemy Records and followed by a well-received tour around the globe.

Marcello formally went solo as M-THEORY from the beginning of 2011. Rob left the project due to family commitments. During this transition Marcello resumed his work on CIMI and was signed to upcoming UK label Furthur Progressions. Since then he has been producing steadily both full-on and progressive psytrance. He has regular collaborations with established artists, and occasionally dedicates his time to studio mastering.

M-Theory

Global DJ Broadcast partner and our friends at Afterhours.fm are celebrating 7 years on the air, and to mark each anniversary, they throw a huge three day-long event with exclusive sets from the biggest DJs. I am very proud to have been part of these celebrations from the very beginning, and have contributed an exclusive set for the event every year.
