Waddling smoothly between interstellar places within minutes without working up a sweat.

These 3 versions of the track Deía do exactly this. And they do it with elegance and fleet-footedness. Even if all the tracks are quite different from each other, so they all circle around the same yellow glowing ball of light in the same solar system. They share the warmth of a fervent sun-soaked afternoon. An afternoon perfect to discover stars and explore little adventures.

The original track from Mira & Christopher Schwarzwalder takes its time before it puts you in your space suit. It guides you into your journey with a cautious hand, letting the engine reverberate at just the right time. It doesn’t matter if we’re ascending or descending through the atmosphere, we’re on the move.

Ruede Hagelstein also takes his time. First, he sends us a postcard with the most beautiful description of his home planet. Later, he begins to fill us in on all the details of its origins and history. All this he does with the guiding hand of a perfectly experienced travel guide who loves nothing more than to share these little secrets and stories with you.
AVEM, in turn, picks us up with his planet cruiser - an old family heirloom – which he has devotedly maintained for years. The sound aboard prepares for the slightly wonky sunrises in his homeland. He points out of the cockpit with bright eyes and whistles „Deía - oh, Deía – we are coming!“

Returning to the musical undergrowth first explored by Desert Dwellers and acclaimed mycologist Paul Stamets in summer 2020 in partnership with documentary film Fantastic Fungi, ‘One Giant Consciousness’ collects the sounds of six producers from the global electronica scene to echo the message of connection and renewal driving Stamets’ celebrated work as one of the pioneers of mycology research and advocacy in the 21st century. A shapeshifting journey through the deep grooves, soothing basslines, and mesmerizing atmospheres of psychedelic music, the collection ignites the doors of perception with an array of imaginative remixes from producers Hibernation, Nanosphere, Equanimous & Skysia, and Desert Trax artists Gumi and Tylepathy to evoke a sense of interconnection between nature, civilization, and the vast network of beings and visionaries lining the corridors of Earth’s history. Hitting on the emotive peaks and valleys engrained in Desert Dwellers’ iconic sound and accented with re-imaginings designed for a full spectrum of sensory environments, ‘One Giant Consciousness’ is a glimpse behind the veil that teases more collaborative work to come from Desert Dwellers, Paul Stamets, and Desert Trax’s mushrooming roster of creators from the modern visionary realm.

What do you want to convey through your art, and more specifically this set?

"One of my aspirations with the music I’m making is to awaken feelings of wanderlust in the listener. Especially at this time, when current circumstances create rifts between different cultures and the pleasure of making new acquaintances is merely a forlorn dream, I find that music in itself can unify the listener with the world. When creating this set, I was never asking myself: “What do I want to hear?”. I was simply closing my eyes and asking “Where do I want to go?”"

Is there a particular mood you find yourself in when crafting your art, and does that mood change over the course of this process?

"During the first stages of production for a track, I’m usually in a state of controlled chaos. It is as exhilarating as it is exhausting. Starting out, I have all these ideas, and my process is to look suspiciously at each and every one of them, asking them some tough questions, and then going for the one you fall in love with. As the form of the song slowly begins taking shape I also reach a level of some tranquility. Suddenly I remember that there’s a world outside which I had totally forgotten about. If I’m lucky there might even be some bird chatter and sun shining in when I open my curtains again."

What cause are you supporting? Is there a connection between your set and this cause?

"Direct Relief. We’re soon entering a time period where it will be made painfully clear just how much inequality exists between different countries. I don’t think there will ever be a better time to help lift the positive forces that work against this, than now."

What is one record or work of art from the past, and one from today, that inspires you the most?

"Blast from the past: Brazilian legend Jorge Ben’s “Take It Easy My Brother Charles” from ‘69. It has such an amazing vibe and warm sound that I would like to incorporate more into my own work! I've been in love with Jorge’s voice since years back.

A 2020 release that is close to my heart, and which managed to fly under the radar a bit, is Guy Mayaan’s “Your Dreams”. Damn, what a playful and groovy electronic track. I remember laughing a bit the first time I heard it because there simply was so much silly stuff going on at the same time, but in such an elegant and cheeky style. "

Born in captivity — with two black eyes, constantly threatened and tranquillised — PANDORRR realised that there must be more to life, that things didn't have to be so black and white. So, with a bamboo bobby pin, they escaped into the night on an expedition far and wide, to find an embarrassment of pandas living in the wild. But all the pandas were in hiding, surviving, in disguise. And the tumbleweeds just rolled on by... 

Panda head in panda paws and more alone than ever before, PANDORRR — about to give up hope, turn back for good — suddenly felt a deep rumbling underfoot. The whole valley shook and shuddered, birds aflutter, dust rising off the ground. Then from all around erupted a rich tapestry of sound, dripping down the mountains, skipping over streams, weaving together the lushest journey a panda could ever dream. 

It was then that PANDORRR fell in love. Not with some randy panda they had conjured up, but with the primal pulse and tribal tunes and bamboo beats that make you swoon. Thus, they began to blend and mix every mystic morsel, to force all the pandas out of the woodwork and onto the dancefloor — a chance for them to feast and stomp and sprawl, to be truly free once and for all… 

This is their mating call.
