Back at our mammoth Stay True Scotland broadcast earlier this month, one track came real close to bringing The Caves' roof down during Nina Kraviz's powerhouse headline set. "I Wanna Go Bang" very nearly executed its titular statement – well, if the song was more about wrecking balls and less about...oh, never mind.

The vocals that stalk the track, so wholly devoid of humanity, rub up against razor-sharp claps and serious bounce in the subs. It's weighty warehouse techno of the highest order, set to devastate dark basements and big tents alike throughout the year. Simply put: Icelandic producer Bjarki has delivered a bomb.

British DJ-producer Michael Bibi drops two moody cuts on Criminal Hype this June, featuring a remix by Huxley.
Michael Bibi has cemented himself a solid reputation over the years. As well as releasing on his own label Solid Grooves, Michael has recently had a string of successful releases on labels such as VIVa MUSiC and Lost Records, whilst as a DJ he’s made appearances across London, Ibiza, Berlin, Geneva and Amsterdam. He joins Criminal Hype’s roster alongside the likes of Sirus Hood, Lee Walker, Jozef K & Winter Son, Raffa FL and Mr. V.
Distorted kicks inaugurate ‘Magic Carpet’ before thunderous bass and subtle vocal samples form a heady dancefloor workout. ‘Don’t Look Down’ then demonstrates a skipping beat as crunchy snares work alongside trippy atmospherics and sinister low-end growls. No Idea’s Original founder Huxley then reworks ‘Magic Carpet’, creating a low-slung groove composed of purring synths and glistening chords

A modern nomad who has travelled the continents with his music, Nu is as diverse in his musical styles as he is well-travelled.

Taking influences from his various homes, such as Switzerland, Germany, or Peru, the producer and trained sound engineer branched out into various genres (deep house, hip hop, trip-hop, ambient, experimental, dance, and even film and dance theatre music composition). Through this years-long musical journey, Nu then found his true calling: instrumentals amalgamated with his electronic production, all held together through solid rhythms.

Nuʼs music has a strong emphasis on live performance. He fuses clean-cut minimal techno with the raw sounds of his analogue synthesis and his self-made instruments. He works with anything from self-recorded samples over drum and synthesizer machines to multi-touch screen controllers.

2020 marks the beginning of a new era for Upon You Records. Celebrating our 13th year in the business with a quite a few forthcoming specials over the course of the year as well reaching the magical mark of the 150 single release on the label it is about time for label founder, A&R and overall creative mastermind Marco Resmann to take over again with a stunning new four track single that's about to define the label sound for the future. Here it is, the „Caelum EP“.


Setting off into the journey with „Lilium“ we see Marco Resmann digging deep into raw, muscular and slightly Acid-influenced Tech territories backed by busy shakers and melodic, all embracing bass waves  as a captivating foundation for beautifully intricate, crystalline melodic layers, complex, shrieking additional modulations as well as tender, Trance-resembling pads for an athmospheric addition.

Following up is „Lux“, a tune exploring the deeper side of Marco Resmann's musical work, meandering in between tripping TechHouse and Intelligent Techno with its stripped down, yet distinct main motif, trembling low end warps able to shake up Drum'n'Bass floors even and overall hypnotic attitude best experienced in lightless, humungous underground venues for a reason.

With „Septem“ the Berlin-based producer and label head is providing more of a muscular TechHouse stomp garnished by a short, ever looped sawtooth bass motif and more hovering, ethereal atmospheres which are about to turn the tiniest, most shy and sensitive fairy into a full time raver even before quirky bass warps, twisted rave signals and spaced out sweeps are unfolding to great effect on the dancefloor.

Finally the title track „Caelum“ is bringing forth the most brooding, technoid vibe on this four tracker. Using and abusing short, razor sharp hi-hats, continuous low-end rolls and large scale space subs we see Marco Resmann at his very best in terms of shaping more heavenly atmospheres, gauzy string arrangements and jingly sonic cascades which just seem to have come down to earth from the mighty heavens.
