Following the April 26, 1986 nuclear accident, the City of Pripyat was evacuated. The residents were forced to leave their pets (including domestic dogs) behind.  
Nearly 40 years after the accident, the descendants of these dogs are still living in the Exclusion Zone and a study is currently taking place. 
Scientists are sampling the DNA of the dogs. Apparently, their DNA is irregular in some interesting ways.
This song, written by Wendy DuMond and produced in collaboration with Mystic Tape Deck, celebrates the triumph of survival.
