Today, local 5-piece Indie Rock band Science Rockets released their brand new single, Eyes Closed.

Formed from the remnants of The Girl Folder, Science Rockets are framed with vision to create a sound that brought together layers of reverb, delay with huge breakdowns. 

They spent a year writing, recording and mixing a body of work to launch at a show they had planned at Lizotte's in Newcastle. And then the pandemic struck. 

All their hard work and dedication to their new sound had heartbreakingly came to nothing. But the band decided to push on. Since then they've released a "live performance" on YouTube called “The Social Distance Sessions” and are now unveiling their single. 

Matthew West from the band dropped into Newcastle Live Radio for Ausmusic Afternoons to discuss the release.

Science Rockets on Ausmusic Afternoons

Young People Theatre's interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, by Nicholas Thoroughgood, is now playing and it's not quite what you would expect.

﻿﻿The production focuses on the violence of the story rather than the romance; with adult themes including Blood, Violence, Self-Harm, and Death.

﻿Samuel Adey, who plays Capulet joined Tracy Mac to talk about Romeo and Juliet.
