Utah has always been a second home to L.A.'s Maude Vôs who delivers our 14th guest mix comprised of all original productions.

A self-professed synth, drum machine, and gear fanatic she taught herself the ropes for years before going to school for recording production and media music. With a new studio built just in time for lockdown, Maude joined NCM from DTLA for our first live stream during the pandemic. From there she continued connecting with fans online through her videos and streaming appearances while working on her latest EP, "The Umbra".

Vôs is boss of the newly launched Delusional Records (with Marie Nyx), where they are carving new pathways for women and other underrepresented populations in electronic music.

Donned "The Queen of the DC Underground" by the late Lisa Moody, Lisa Frank has been running with underground crews of the northeast for the past fourteen years. In addition to re-igniting warehouse culture in DC with ROAM and TNX, Lisa Frank has worked in nearly every aspect of nightlife culture, both behind the scenes and up front. Where Lisa shines the most, though, is in their live DJ sets. If you've caught Lisa spin in-person then you understand the magnetic pull she conjures from the booth. You can feel it connect to your mind, body and soul; regardless of whether they're playing techno, disco, house or miami bass. After a recent move down to South Florida, Lisa Frank has now put party-throwing on hold while they focus on production, their record label and her new Sunday night residency at The Eagle in Wilton Manors.

Maude Vôs (@maudevos)is an LA-based electronic artist with several notable label releases and remixes to her credit. Maude’s creative locus is rooted in psychedelia, atonal percussion and found sound experimentation. Inspired by polyrhythmic traditions and world influences, her works echo distant cultures while remaining true to vintage electronic production techniques. Maude is a consummate experimentalist with a distinct musical voice that is brought to bear in both the studio and on underground dance floors. She has produced for vocalists, film shorts, art galleries and fashion shows while putting out her own albums and remixes. Maude holds a dual degrees in Media Music and Recording Technology and has worked teaching audio production to young women and at-risk youth. She has held a job in audio technology, routing and optimizing studio spaces for clients. Together with fellow LA-based artist @MarieNyx, Maude founded @delusional_records in 2021. Focusing on underground electronic music, the label heavily focuses on women, non-binary and hardware artists. 

This is year 10 of Maude’s annual Valentines Voyage Mixtape. Year after year Maude shares a Valentines Mixtape that taps into the heart space. These mixes are not about genre or BPM but rather a mood and the depths that love and togetherness hold. This mix offering is a ritual of love that she shares with her community in hopes of communal growth and expansion. Maude has chosen to release this mix on LOP because of their shared ethos in visibility, accessibility and inclusivity(AND she has a deep love and respect for the work that @Joeygmixes is doing for the community.)

Recording a mix at home is a struggle for me. No beautiful dancers, no lights and no energy exchange can be a hindrance. I’m so thankful this moment was captured live to share with all of you. One deficit all artists have is developing their craft in front of the public eye (and ears). Being a recovering perfectionist also adds to the struggle. Everything you do is analyzed and judged. With a live mix there’s no take 2 and no do-overs. You’re completely naked and vulnerable. I’m slowly learning to welcome the flaws in the things I create and embrace the process.
I hope this set stirs something  inside of you as it did with me when it was recorded. It’s full of all of my favorite things in music and I hope it finds you tapping your foot or shaking your backside.

March FEVER was also special because for the first time we partnered with local artist, Ron Abram for the ad design and now mix cover art. The illustration shown is entitled Detail, Wrangler Series of Etchings, 2023. You’ll be seeing more of Ron’s work with future collabs. Until then follow him on IG @abramgrafiks.

I wanted to share one of my sets from my dates on the Plaid tour. This mix is for the IDM angels, the braindancers & the neuro-knots, as it's chock full of dreamy ambient elements, cinematic tension, percussion workouts & even a few forthcoming pieces from yours truly. Scuffed Recordings with Maude Vôs - 29 May 2024

Today Maude Vôs celebrates their recent EP release on Scuffed Recordings with a set on dublab. The EP entitled, Unearthed is an abstract leftfield club record capturing the textural landscape of Maude’s home in Topanga. Maude transformed numerous field recordings with granular synthesis techniques and wove them alongside cinematic strings, synths, bells and vocals to compose the 3 tracks. Maude then reached out to 2 esteemed producers, Parisian artist Trypheme and the Brussels based artist Leese for remixes of the compositions. The EP features vocals from the Oregon singer songwriter, SOLARPLEXXUS for a femme fronted record. This record embodies protection, conservation, connection and release. Maude hopes you enjoy this hour of nature inspired electronica for an entry into the spring season.
