Neither one genre nor another, New Weird Australia champions the artists who find refuge in the spaces between.  

Established in 2009, projects have included a long-running compilation series, podcasts and radio shows (FBi Radio, Resonance FM), live events and tours, and artist projects such as the Wood & Wire netlabel and New Editions limited-run series.

Brainbeau are a live electronic duo from Brisbane, Australia, with a distinctly alternative flavour. 🍭Combining old school hip-hop production techniques  with a live band approach, recontextualising varied electronic sub-genres and soundtrack elements through a post-punk influence.  They describe themselves as “sounding something like if Detroit and Chicago were chillin with Warp, smoking Afro-funk in a new-wave Kraut bar deep in the subtropical Australian jungle”. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Formed in 2007 originally busking, the pair have since supported many significant international artists including Chris Clark,  The Clean, Ariel Pink, Grimes, and Blues Control.  And have played many Australian festivals including Vivid, Sound Summit, The Now Now, Square Sounds, and Lost City.  With three albums under their belt, soon to be four, and 4 childrens audio books in a series with Scale Free Network released by the CSIRO.
As of July 2019, they are in Europe, based in Bristol.
