Originally compiled in 2012, this retrospective features two outstanding performances from Maestro Kurt Masur's tenure as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic (1991–2002). The first is a performance of the Dvořák’s CelloConcerto with Yo-Yo Ma as soloist. The second half of the program features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 that rang in the new century on December 31, 1999. Maestro Masur speaks on the eternal message of love and brotherhood in the Ninth Symphony. Kerry Frumkin and Alec Baldwin are your hosts.
