Continuing from her Conscious Cunt EP released on London’s Houndstooth label, Aïsha Devi’s debut album Of Matter and Spirit sees the Swiss-Nepalese producer and vocalist further her highly personal project.

Here, the conceptual musician and label owner resumes her dark and intricate self-journey, described as both an identity search and spiritual quest challenging our perception of reality and the possibility of alter-invisible dimensions, ‘the disconnection between matter and spirit in our society’.

‘Mazdâ’ is “an ‘R’n’B incantation. It’s about burning the ego and finding inner peace. It's a meta love song.”

From the depths of one of the hard disks founded in BD's studio we recovered an album with files created around 2014-2015. All these tracks were composed around the optical science theme and compiled under the optx (optics) name folder. 

Musically speaking you'll find a mix between electronica and experimental electro without the usual beats but keeping the vibe combined also with an advanced treatment of synthesis, including granular and timestretching massive programming methods and speech synthesis on voices. Sometimes the minimal sound approach reminds a THX1138 atmosphere surrounded by digital sounds and bleeps, textures of noise and drones create several places as if they were recorded in a clean and dry lab facility. 

As usual in Artificial Domain, this edition is released on CD and digital download only (Flac or uncompressed formats recommended) to enjoy all the audio spectrum, from ultra low ends to ultra high pitch frequencies which couldn't be possible on vinyl format.

Chicago producer and DJ, Aguila offers up the first release on 90's dance imprint 'There Is Love In You' with a fabulous EP of trance-infused house music laced with rickety breaks and rhythmic bass. Chock full of glitter-sprinkled synths, woozing deep basslines and melody-rich, heart-warming songwriting. 

We're premiering 'The Club On 27th West', the B2 on the record yet definitely not winding things down. Still waving the flag high for wooshing Trancey nostalgia, yet arguably the most 'club ready' cut on the EP. It rumbles, builds and builds, yet remaining fully self-aware and accepting of it's purpose and ultimate crescendo. Hold out for the breakdown - hairs on end stuff.

PREMIERE: Aguila - The Club On 27th West [There Is Love In You]

The period leading up to the release of Parastrophics was one of uncharacteristic silence for Mouse On Mars. Their 10th studio album was 5 years in the making - and the record, for all its deftness and dizzying unpredictability, was notable for the resulting sense of gravitas. WOW is the exact opposite, a spontaneous reaction to all those hours of studio labour, created from scratch in a matter of weeks, and released just 9 months after its predecessor.

You can almost feel the tension being released. WOW is an exuberant, immediate and club-orientated counterpoint to Parastrophics, with Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma aiming their considerable technical finesse firmly in the direction of the dancefloor. There are no prizes for guessing the 303 delights that a track called “ACD” might have to offer; others, like “DOG”, “HYM” and the closing “SUN” deliver serious bass punch and genuine hands-in-the-air euphoria alongside Mouse On Mars’s trademark twists and turns.

The vocal presence tying the whole mini-album together is Dao Anh Khanh, whom the band met during their tour of Asia 2010. Dao is a performer and sculptor from Vietnam, who invented a fantasy language which the band recorded together with him in an arcane Hanoi studio. Further contributions come from the Argentinian girl punk band Las Kellies and Eric D. Clarke. Thrown together, these disparate elements come together to make a whole which is epic, abstract, intense and ridiculous at the same time. WOW is Mouse on Mars' bass theatre.

The record also makes much use of the wretchup, an iphone app which was invented by Mouse on Mars during preparations for their orchestral work Paeanumnion. The band went on to use wretchup effects on Parastrophics and on stage during their 2012 album tour – now they plan to make it available, via itunes, around the time of the release of WOW.

Philip Glass - Movement II

The NextSound international festival for advanced music and digital arts will be held in Kyiv

This festival will present the latest experiments in audio and video as well as premiere performances of world-renowned artists, most of whom will play their first time in Ukraine.

NextSound follows the global trend in an attempt to synthesize different creative systems – namely, audio and video, to create new artistic techniques. One of the conceptual frameworks of the event is to create innovative contexts, among other things.

The project aims to combine creative scene in Ukraine and inspire musicians to experiment with new, modern ways of work and give them a platform for communication and joint projects with colleagues from abroad and from Ukraine.

The festival is organized by the Ukrainian avant-label Nexsound founded by Andrey Kiritchenko in 2000. For 13 years already Nexsound artists represent Ukraine on major European festivals of modern experimental music and media art. Today it lists more than 60 releases, including Muslimgauze, Kim Cascone, Francisco Lopez, I/DEX and others, and cooperative works with Staalplaat, Soleilmoon, A-Musik, Plop.
