Jaku Na - Naigomei

A homage to imperfection and an ode to the process, dedicated to the used, to the worn out. Pure Naked Mind Without Center or Circumference takes it’s name from a line in the Tibetan Book of the Dead that visuales the mind in a state of meditation. The hour-long piece transforms four notes on an electric organ into a mind-numbing mantra, alternating rhythm and speed constantly to generate dynamic transformations while utilizing repetition and layering to maintain peace amongst the chaos.

The piece was recorded using a vintage electric organ across a period of 4 days with the idea of documenting the melodic flow of emotions one experiences while uninhibitedly playing a musical instrument. Pure Naked Mind Without Center or Circumference creates a frantically calming, constantly evolving soundscape that incites personal reflection while submerging the listener in the emotional process of the artist.

Waiting for the day to rise... for the sun to shine... From the highest point of Belgium, watching the valleys of Wallonia lost in the fog...

It was an immense pleasure and honor to be back at La Nature Festival, and specially to be back playing in the Hypnose Room for another ambient set at dawn... you can follow the church bells announcing the day break, and the set finished just before the first ray of sun... 

Infinite gratitude to Julien Baratto for creating such a beautiful festival and to Simon Medard for such a unique stage.

The Cactus Channel and Chet Faker announce a 7inch two-track recording out September 18.

Funk/soul band, The Cactus Channel, have collaborated with ARIA Award winner Chet Faker for two tracks, ‘Kill the Doubt’ and ‘Sleeping Alone’ on a 7inch set for release via HopeStreet Recordings.

The recording, two years in the making, is a fine example of the depth of Melbourne’s music scene. It features Chet Faker’s seasoned songwriting with The Cactus Channel’s ear for musical instrumentation, resulting in a dose of classic soul and funk seen through a uniquely Melbourne perspective.
