DJ Celestial always had great passion for music and art early on in his youth and started DJing and promoting events in 1988. Rewinding things a bit, DJ Celestial works in nightclubs and lounges promoting local and out of town events as well as embracing Ableton Live as his DAW while building a music studio from scratch.... Including connecting Standalone Music Samplers, Grooveboxes, Powerful Sequencers, Drum Machines and unique sounding Hardware Synths to produce original new electronic dance music including Deep Vocal Progressive House, Melodic Deep House, Dreamy Cosmic House and Melodic Techno!  DJ Celestial enjoys remixing amazing tracks with new melodies, beats and sounds resonating thru well balanced compositions... 

DJ Celestial held onto an extended residency at Bikkuri Lounge for over 7 years and is known for promoting events in Central Florida with a wide variety of music genres including house, breaks, lounge, timeless classic techno and electronic dance music from back in the day. Celestial also worked as Resident DJ on many packed Saturday nights at Vixen Bar for a number of unforgettable years. He aspires to share his uniquely deep progressive house and melodic techno sounds on a national & international level. As well as progressively moving forward on a global scale as an artist appearing at many sophisticated nightclubs and high end ultralounges sharing his signature mixes and infectious sounds and aspires daily to take  new music release tours nationally and  around the world.

DJ Groovy Q started his “attack on the dance floor” in late 1997 armed with a two-year work visa for the UK. Initially his interest was in creating music, but after experiencing the various vibes that clubbing in London, Leeds, Ibiza and North Carolina (USA) had to offer, he tried his hand at mixing. Groovy Q was soon cutting his teeth on the wheels of steel at private parties in and around London.

On his return home in 2000, he scored South African residencies at AKWA and Purple Fly, where he ventured into the commercial genre, but soon returned to his true sound - a melting pot of Funky, Vocal, French and Disco house when joining the resident DJ line-up at Therapy/GASS.

He has also played at the YSL Villa parties, the Gaulious Parties - Paris with Love, the AFDA Festival, Red Hill Rock Fest, and at one point he was mixing under the Red Bull Home Groove banner. Groovy Q has played at many venues around the country including Mojo, Foo Moon Fusion, Bitch, Truth, Oh! Bar, The Roxy, Mynt, Legends, Carfax, Lemon 8, The Pyramid, Vacca Matta, Mo’s, CCHQ, Statement, Aqua Lounge, 115, Sliver (CT), Baseline (CT) and Tiffendel (Muluti Mountain Ski Lodge) to name a few 

Groovy Q is presently resident for the recently re-launched Therapy nighclub, he is also resident and promoter behind the underground party troupe Clique, and was part of the team that put together the Swanky parties. He has also held a residency and was the co-Promoter for the Citrus Lounge Parties. Past residencies have included Cherry Thursday (Therapy / G.A.S.S.) and alternate Saturday residency at Therapy and the Sunday club Remedy (115/Oh). 

His style of music is laid back, jazzy and always fresh - mixing French House, New York styled Vocal Garage, and a little UK Two Step. He also includes some of his own tracks in his sets, and his trademark signature is house remixes of Sade. He is currently one of the Top 60 South African DJ's as voted by clubbersguide.co.za.

Groovy Q has played alongside local DJ’s including Stuart Hillary, Coco Loco, Mark Stent, Sista C, Thelma Klensch, Tasha Baxter, M’buso, Brian Banshee, Lady Lea, DJFKA, Doctor Stone, Lalicia, Trevthedev, Prince Vince, Delon Palm, Fluid, Warren Louder, Groove Element, Angelo, MissRed, Maximillian, Alan Inferno, Amanda, Blue Nova, Brett Jackson, Bren, C4, Dr Stone, Bart Marley and Flash Republic, plus Roger Goode, Erica Elle, Kevin Grenfell and Katherine all of 5FM. He has also mixed alongside international DJ’s, recently opening for Stephan Pompegnaque (Hotel Costes), Jose Padilla (Café Del Mar) and Ravin (Buddah Bar) plus Alan X (X-Trax), Mark Bambach & Luigi Rosso (Coco Latte), Femi B, Tony Finger, D’syfa (Bukola) and Beat Boy Pete. He has also worked with Tasha Baxter, Jennifer Jones, Vernon Joel, Black Rabbit, Pam Andrews and Bukola (UK) having them perform and sing live over his DJ sets on various occasions.

Groovy Q has also enjoyed radio airplay, recently his two step styled remix of a Sade track was picked up and played out during Roger Goode’s dance show on 5FM. He was also showcased on Mark Gilman’s Vinyl Frontier (5FM) with a 20 minute mix of all his remixes and productions. He has also enjoyed airplay internationally on BBC Radio as a SA music representative.

Besides mixing and putting parties together, Groovy Q continues to pursue music production, and recently completed a set of concept reworks for Noa Tylo, Lady Lea and Battery 9. Groovy Q was selected as one of the top 14 in the Transmix contest with a honourable mention. His music is available for download on the Internet and has been awarded a top ten download for three months running on mPulse. 

Presently Groovy Q is in the studio working with prose vocalist Cleo and ColorBlack, and he is soon to start recording the debut album for his live house group Soulversatile. Plus putting the finishing touches to remixes for Vocalist and Performer Vernon Joel, under the moniker of VJDJ. They have recently launched some of the new house tracks live to an unsuspecting club crowd who lapped it up and chanted for more! He was also commissioned by Ghetto Ruff Records to remix and produce tracks for SA soul sensation R.J.Benjamin, and interest in his work has been shown from a French record label at Midem 2006.There’s no doubt that the future is bright for DJ Groovy Q. He's also teamed up with legendary musician Paul Jannetta—best known for his work with 90s rave pioneers S-Cape and Push Button Technology—to form the duo McDonald & Jannetta, producing genre-defying tracks that push boundaries.
