What is up, you beautiful people?! It has been a while, but I am back and I'm here to release my biggest project yet! "THE KING IS COOKIN'", a compilation of all of the songs I've contributed to SiIvaGunner's "King For Another Day Tournament", as well as a few demos and W.I.P.s that were made for this project as well. 

Throughout listening, I advise you to peep each track's description, for they are all filled with commentary and fun facts about each track's creation, as well as info about the characters that were represented, just so you could get a glimpse of my activity and motives. If not, then just listening is good. I just hope you all will be pleased regardless.

THE KING IS COOKIN': A King For Another Day Compilation

Character Representing: Coraline (for Marrow)

As a lot of you know, this piece was in tribute to Marrow, a backroom member of SiIvaGunner before he passed away. In all honesty, before MAGFest 2019, I really wasn't knowledgeable about the majority of SiIvaGunner's rippers or backroom members, Marrow included. But during MAGFest, I instantly knew that during our time playing Smash Bros. Ultimate together, we'd be real Smash Brothers. During our hourly sessions before our tournament, we'd talk about the game and such, and he'd always have a thing where he would talk about "nerfing Incineroar" since I've beaten his Brawler and Yoshi a lot, which we both found funny and worked from to kinda build our companionship.

During the tournament, we happened to be in Grand Finals, where I prevailed against him at all odds, and the rest was history. Even then, we would be great friends, especially before his passing, I joined Brawlercord, since I was picking up Brawler at the time, and he was the very first to personally greet me... That was April of last year... Two months later, and... Yeah. 

This song actually samples the drums of Logic's "Indica Badu" and samples the "I miss you" quote from "Smiles & Tears" from Earthbound, displaying my emotion and thoughts through the piece. This was originally meant for Nintendo Power, still serving as a tribute to Marrow, since I was absent during the Street Pass tribute. Little did I know, the team was anyways longing for a Marrow tribute, which I happened to finish some time in the middle of November. They featured his artwork and gave the character Coraline her own character slot for that one video in tribute to him.

I'm going to be completely honest when I tell you, in the first 5 minutes of composing the song, I welled up with overwhelming tears. I had to spend another 5-10 minutes to compose myself before continuing. That's how much Marrow's death impacted me, especially since he was young and presumably around my age, which is hard for anyone to deal with.

The video at the end where Isabelle was fishing while Marrow was observing her serves as two things: one, her fishing, representing his love for the Street Pass/Ultimate Angler game, and two, her being an Animal Crossing character, and this song combines an Ultimate Angler song with an Animal Crossing song. 

If only he was around when the Incineroar vs. Mii Brawler crew battle happened months ago (which the Brawlers won), he'd never let that down and never stop hassling me about it lol. But yeah, this is a tribute to him, and the most personal tribute I've done for anybody in my life, so here's to you, my SiIvaBrother, my Smash Brother... our Ultimate Angler. Thanks for the memories and I pray, I DEEPLY pray, that you're fishing every day in heaven.

Fishing Night in Heaven

Characters Representing: Rhythm Masters & Law and Disorder

Unlike the demos and other unfinished pieces, this piece I'm actually looking to finish in the future for a project regardless. No one, not even the team knows, that I actually considered to make this for the tournament, a "DJ Hero" version of iteachvader's "Objection Funk". It was meant for a personal "DJ Hero" project anyway, but it was made during the time of the tournament's run. The style of the mix was going to be reminiscent of the Scratch Perverts' "Groundhog", where an announcer was going to provide levels and add intensity and feel to it. I intend to add more than drums to the instrumental, and will continue with the style of announcing in-gameplay, but now you can enjoy it in its work-in-progress, scratchless form.

Since this is the last unfinished project of the compilation album, I think that just for the heck of it, I should unveil other projects that I recycled over time during the tournament (that hasn't been talked about in previous descriptions), in no particular character order:

Objection Funk (Beat Juggle) (W.I.P.)

Character Represented: Daft Punk (ft. Pharrell)

This one kinda stings, because I believe this was the third or fourth rip I finished my part of. This was intended to be a collaboration with another ripper, where they agreed that they were going to provide the drums and percussion. My portion was done months before the ripper sadly had to back out due to being busy with other collaborations. I did however had drums added before needing help with more cleaner percussion production, but like "For the Rekurd", the Discovery medley was an .flp file that I deleted to save space, and what was left was a mastering project with no drums added. This is the end result.

If you're wondering what the songs are in order, the order is: "Veridis Quo", "One More Time", "Harder Better Faster Stronger" (vocals only), "Aerodynamic", "Voyager", "High Life", "Short Circuit", "Crescendolls", "Too Long", "Superheroes", "Digital Love", "Face to Face", "Something About Us" (vocals only), "Nightvision", & [back to] "Something About Us" (intro).

Discovery Medley (Drumless)

Character Represented: DJ Professor K

This is the second unfinished DJ Prof K piece. This also happens to be the first Professor K rip I claimed. Just like the first one, I ran out of ideas, but not due to samples, rather overall instrumental composition. Of course, you can tell that the lyrical main sample of "Heavydirtysoul" by Twenty One Pilots was going to be titled as such, as well as the concept of using samples depicting one's questionable thoughts and imagination. Other samples were going to include "Down With the Sickness" and "Bodies", as well as an excerpt from a Reggie Couz video, just for the hell of it lol.

Unlike the first Professor K rip, the .flp file is still in tact, and if not too late, I might revamp it for the Professor K takeover, as well as make at least two other planned rips, but as remixes. Let me know if you feel the idea in the comments, and I'll definitely think about it if the feedback is positive.

Imagination Infestation (Demo)

Character Representing: DJ Professor K

This is the first unfinished DJ Prof K piece. This was unfinished sue to the fact that I didn't know what to do with the piece, as I kept hitting roadblocks in terms of sample use and overall instrumental composition. 

As you can tell, this piece was based on an original sample piece by https://soundcloud.com/flamingmoes (formerly known as D.J. DryBowser), which he also insisted and attempted to collaborate with me as well. Sadly, this is the only version I have, for the longer version we worked on, saved in an .flp file, I had to delete to conserve the measly computer space I had left.

For the Rekurd (Demo)

Characters Represented: Eminem & Adam Levine

This piece was one of my hardest to compose, for not only did I add original chords and elements to it, but I also had to make sure that both songs and artists were basically "on the same page" when it came to emotional and lyrical synergy. I also tried my best to make it story-based, hence the baby noises for the intro and outro, and the little jack-in-the-box intro chords to fit the narrative. All in all, "Hailie Will Be Loved" might not be the most popular rip, but it was really meant to hit home in people's spirits regardless and make people think. And I'm glad how it turned out and about the reception I got from it.

Hailie Will Be Loved

Characters Representing: The Jazz Cats & Nico Nico

Hopefully no one hurts me for this... but I had no idea who Nico Nico was before this tournament. Had I did and the project was occuring in early Spring of this year, I would've done so many Hatsune Miku submissions for this project, it's not even funny. So when I claimed "Nyan Cat" for Jazz Cats, I had no idea that NicoNico had part ownership of that source.

I wanted to do a jazz version of Nyan Cat, not just any version, and I need tremendous amounts of help. Luckilly, the legendary wolfman1405 asked for someone who was doing Nyan Cat. He provided the bass and percussion, the latter of which did not come from regular drums or instruments, but from everyday items, such as rice in a cup, a pen tapping a glass, and finger-tapping a freaking Nintendo Switch case. Amazing if I do say so myself.

Little-known fact, I intentionally wanted to beatbox to this, and I didn't want to beatbox just in any simple way, so I tried to put in a character to beatbox as, and I wanted to do it as a known feline character. Being the Incine-stan I am, I was obviously pointing toward impersonating Incineroar, because... you know... he's my Smash main, happens to be a cat. You get the idea. I couldn't find myself to impersonate his English voice, so I thought of impersonating his Japanese voice, which could've worked, and call the piece "Nyan Cat (ft. Gaogaen)", but eventually, I scrapped the idea completely due to time.

Now, get ready for something that I've only told 2-3 people in existence about in this piece. The synth portions contain cameos and excerpts from all of the other contestants' songs from games/movies/etc. with the exception of DJ Professor K (the sax squeal from "Let Mom Sleep" was enough).

The first synth easter egg pattern is as follows: "Gourmet Race" for Dedede (as all of you figured out off the bat), "Yo Home to Bel Air!" for Men In Black, "Fun" for Pitbull and the Aliens, "Pearl & Marina's Theme" for Off the Hook, "Nuclear" for Solid Snake, "Plastic Love" for Mariya Takeuchi, "Greenhorse Forest" for Wario Partners, LLP, "Bad"/"Fat" for Weird Al, and the beginning of "Ginza" (Shin Megami Tensai) for the Jack Bros.

The second one is as follows: "Forest Maze" for Geno, "Dating Start!" for Papyrus, "Butterfly" (Dance Dance Revolution) for Rhythm Masters, "Fireflies" for Thanos, "Pursuit" for Law & Disorder, "Lose Yourself to Dance" for Daft Punk ft. Pharrell, "Wake Up Call" for Adam Levine, "Donkey Kong Country Theme" for Donkey Kong, "K.K. Slider" for Nintendo Power, something for ZUN (not sure but I know for sure it's there), "Without Me" for Eminem, and the end of the "Dragon Ball Z Kai Intro" for Dr. Piccolo. The little NES synth in the background during the lead synth is the melody of "Harlem Shake" for Metal Ajit Pai.

The third and final one where the bits pan from ear to ear is as follows: "Lavender Town" for MissingNo., "Access" (Cave Story) for Quote, "Elmo's World" for Jack & Elmo, "Johnny Bravo's Intro" for Johnny Bravo, "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Into" for Dr. Robotnik, and "Cooking By the Book" for HoBART (which happened to be one of my recycled pieces). Can't forget the Flintstones part before the third pattern. Hu-hey.

Also, The Jazz Cats happened to be my favorite characters after DJ Professor K. So that's something to reveal. Recycled rips include "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat", which was thought of and planned during the tournament but then rejected, and "Pet Cheetah", which was thought of some time after the tournament.

Nyan Cat (ft. wolfman1405)

Character Representing: Donkey Kong

Obviously you can tell that this is no ordinary Bruno Mars cover, for I added the elements from two of the songs from Donkey Kong arcade game: "Hammer" and "Game Start", while including a Super Mario coin to add a little bit more nostalgia to the mix.

I believe there were a couple of Donkey Kong rips I intended to do as well for this dude, but I really can't put my finger on it. All in all, this character was a wild card for me, and I'm glad I did something for him. Despite its release date on the channel, this was the first-ever arrangement that I've ever started and finished for the tournament. In fact, this was the only rip that I finished before the start of the tournament.

SECOND WIND ~ SiIvaGunner: King for Another Day Tournament Original Soundtrack VOL. 2

Gorilla

Characters Representing: Jack and Elmo & Donkey Kong

This one is a doozy. This rip was the most nostalgic and one of the most hard-working piece I've ever done for the project. This originally was called "Teacher's Pet / Monkey Business" before I found it what the former song was actually called. This was actually the second, or third, song I ever claimed for King For Another Day and my first-ever dual rip claimed. 

I intended for this to have vocals in the beginning, having myself and two others to act out as Jack Black, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, with modified lyrics, such as "And then that Cranky Kong said to obey / Do what Cranky Kong do, say what Cranky Kong say", and "I might not be that perfect Kong / But y'all be rockin' all night long!", but then decided that would be too much trouble and went with synths to replace the vocals. Also, if you listen closely during the part with "Zack's guitar solo", you can hear that I slightly included the melody of the main Donkey Kong Country TV show theme song's chorus.

In a release standpoint, I was called upon to work on the piece before the voting deadline because their matchup was going on. Just in the knick of time, I finished it before 2 hours of voting and submitted it. Sadly, no one got to it as voting closed and the results were shown. A community member stated in a top comment that the dual rip was way overdue when it was released, but I'm blessed enough that it was accepted and uploaded to begin with. Nonetheless, another one was happy for my rip helping them revisit their childhood, which I responded to in appreciation which made me feel a lot better. And we all lived happily ever after...

Little known fact, I was the first (within the team, at least) to recommend Jack Black to be a contender on King For Another Day, and as you could've known, I was pretty excited, especially since he was pairing with Elmo. He was a top 5 favorite of mine, the others (besides Prfessor K, obviously) you can figure out yourself. 😉

School of Rock / Monkey Business

Characters Represented: Daft Punk (ft. Pharrell) & Dr. Robotnik

So I'm dying to talk about this piece in particular. Little known fact about this piece: I JUST noticed iteachvader as an artist 3 days prior to even planning to make this piece. Alongside "Objection Funk", "Robotnik Rock" was the song that got me permanently hooked to his material. I didn't know that he and SiIva had a sort of "history" beforehand, nor did I know he had a problem with SiIva to begin with, but I went ahead and went with the submission anyway, which I'm glad I did.

I didn't want to just do a mashup of "Robotnik Rock" and "Robot Rock", so I decided to add Pharrell's vocals from N.E.R.D.'s "Rock Star", and the rest was history. A massive highlight was when Robotnik was talking about "doing anything" and I used Pharrell's vocals to make the whole sequence golden: 24K golden. SiIvaGunner backroom and YTP legend Omknee acknoledged it (as it was his favorite part), alongside praising the arrangement as a whole and deeming it his favorite rip of the tournament, which I'm honored to be a favorite of someone's, let alone someone from the backroom.

Also, iteachvader himself commented on the video and commended my performance, later complimenting me when I responded to him, which made me very excited in general. To this day, the arrangement is my second most popular rip of all time, right behind "Fall Breaks", which I am very proud of. This was a piece that I will never forget, making, listening, and feeling the love from.

Robotnik Rock Star

Characters Represented: Mr. Krabs & Daft Punk (ft. Pharrell)

An unlikely combination of "Technologic" and "Horlepiep". This was an absolute treat to do, and it happens to be one of my favorite dual rips I've done for the tourney. Not only did I compose and arrange the synth, string and bass instruments, I also redid the drums of "Technologic", mainly because of the lower-than-expected quality of the file I used for the arrangement, so I decided to only use the vocals. 

When showcasing this rip to the team, a great amount of them wanted me to call the mashup, "Minion or Da Bob", which I actually wanted to do, but chose not to, mainly because I didn't use a Despicable Me sourse, and it would feel off-putting. To compensate, I broke kayfabe and commented on the video including the quote. I say I broke kayfabe because I usually don't comment in any of the SiIva videos, unless it's a response or an explanation of some sort.

Also, people have been speculating that the intro sounds like "Gangplank Galleon", which was completely unintentional. However, when it came to writing quotes, it was my recommendation that against Donkey Kong, one of his quotes should compared Mr. Krabs with K. Rool in some way because of their pirate tendencies and the fact that they are nothing but greedy souls.

Technolepiep

Character Representing: Mr. Krabs

This was originally supposed to be an arrangement of "The Rake Hornpipe" mashed with "Grass Skirt Chase", and the current sound and intensity was what it was going to be. But I felt that the transition from "Hornipe" to "Grass Skirt" wouldn't be as exciting as I wanted it to be, so as time was running out, I decided to keep the composition of "Hornpipe" and worked from there. The percussion were two amen break loops that were given to me by a fellow ripper, to whom I forgot at the moment.

The Rake Hornpipe

Character Represented: Mr. Krabs

This Krabs arrangement was meant to be all chiptune, but I felt like it was too bland and too slow. Plus, the VST plugin didn't do me justice to keep it chiptune well enough. So I took it upon myself to keep chiptune aspects, while surprising the viewers with a livened-up sound. Self-awareness is awesome, it truly is. 

Unfinished/recycled rips for Mr. Krabs included all versions of "Brutal" together in one piece, and "Horlepiep" by itself.

Music To Drvie By

Character Represented: Adam Levine

Before "Fall Breaks", this was actually the final piece I made for King for Another Day, right before the deadline. I made this because certain fans of the SiIva community, as well as members of the team, questioned why there wasn't any Kara's Flowers arrangements. I wanted to be the Captain Save-a-Ho of the team and deliver on it. 🤣 This was the result, the first Kara's arrangement, followed by MtH's Kara's gem of a piece of "Control Myself".

Soap Disco

Character Represented: Adam Levine

This was the first ever song I've claimed for newcomer Adam Levine. I was originally going to use vocals for the project, but I feared that because of repeated listens to the radio version of "Animals", I wouldn't get the howl part solo, by itself without interruption form any other lyric of its song. Because of this, I decided to just trade vocals with lead quare synths instead. Come to find out there was an "Animals" vocal where the howl was, in fact, by itself, but it was too late to figure out since I did so when KFAD 2 ended.

Counting dual rips, Adam Levine happens to be my most represented character on King for Another Day (4 submissions), followed by Professor K and Mr. Krabs (3 submissions each). Unfinshed/recycled pieces included "Wake Up Call" and "Harder to Breathe", the latter of which was already claimed.

Animals / One More Night

Characters Represented: DJ Professor K & Dr. Robotnik

I was one of the people that the great Hinchy called upon to be a part of. This piece contained predominatly "Everybody Jump Around" samples with a bit of "Let Mom Sleep" samples. Like "Fall Breaks", I featured the same Incineroar clip, followed by a Beastie Boys' "Body Movin'" sample, but a different lyric. 

Funnily enough, this also included a sample from the song "Time Machine" by Ingrid Michaelson. This was solely because of a job I worked at at the time that had a repeated playlist, and this was a song that used to play daily to the point where it got stuck in my head. For the good part, it had a good, catchy brass part that I used as the sample.

Alongside Daft Punk ft. Pharrell, both DJ Professor K and Dr. Robotnik are the only characters I've used more than once for dual rips exclusively.

Big Beat Radio (Roc's Part)

Characters Representing: DJ Professor K & Mariya Takeuchi

This song contained Jet Set Radio/Sonic Rush samples from "Oldies But Happies", "The Concept of Love", "Yappie Feet", "Like It Like This Like That", "Shape Da Future" and "Let Mom Sleep". The main sample is, of course, dervied from Kurtis Blow's "The Breaks". Other samples used came from samples from a single song file, basically from what real-life DJs use to use numerous samples to scratch from.

I also hid two samples in this piece that no one noticed. An Incineroar voice clip of him exclaiming, "Yeah!", from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and a Beastie Boys ad lib from "Body Movin'", the song I sampled to make "The Sound" for King For A Day. These two hints let you know exactly who made this song. But there has been speculation that, during the choruses, I used the Phoenix Wright gavel sound, when in fact, it was just a regular vocal chant. Sorry to disappoint you guys who thought otherwise. 😂

I was one of the ones who volunteered to make a dual rip of the finalists. Little did I know, Mariya's "September" seemed to be sort of a wild card, since everyone was pleasantly surprised to hear it. As of now, "Fall Breaks" happens to be my best rip of all time as a SiIvaGunner ripper, garnishing over 110,000 views, a feat I am absolutely proud of. This is also a rip I'm proud to announce I applied my trademark DJ Hero-style producing, which I wanted to do for at least one of the pieces I submitted. Being this was kind of a roll call for the contest, I'm glad I ended it with a great note.

Fall Breaks

Characters Representing: DJ Professor K & Adam Levine

This song featured beats from two songs: Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock's "It Takes Two" and Logic's "Warm It Up", while the hats were from "Shooting Stars" from the Bag Raiders. The vocals of Maroon 5's songs include "Don't Wanna Know", "Payphone", "This Love", "Sugar", "Animals", "Maps", and "Moves Like Jagger". The Jet Set Radio samples that were used were derived from "That's Enough", "Everybody Jump Around", "Let Mom Sleep", and "Rock It On". The beginning sample was from "Shape Da Future", while the counting sample was after the second hook was derived from Public Enemy's "Shut Em Down".

This was originally going to be Adam Levine's lead in the battle, while DJ Professor K was going to be the opponent, thus the reason why the song is called what it currently is ("Jet Set Vervine"). If it were reversed beforehand, it would've been called "Jetterset Symphony (ft. Adam Levine)", but the team did indeed want the roles reversed because of Professor K being in the top 4 at the time. Because of necessary simplicity, I decided to keep its name.

For a character fact standpoint, DJ Professor K happens to be the only veteran that I've submitted anything for. I had plans for Nintendo Power, Thanos and Men in Black, as well as hopes of pieces for Weird Al and King Dedede, but never got to any other veteran. 

Unfinished/recycled rips for Professor K include "8 Ball Scratchin" (a remix of Super Monkey Ball 2's "Billiards Theme"), and two more that will be showcased later on in this album.
