Each year we give our members the chance to come up with a newly composed Christmas tune, or a cover of a well known carol. Please only post compositions made especially for this event, otherwise, using tracks from years gone by, defeats the purpose of the challenge. We will then release the playlist in time for people to put our tunes on repeat. Forget about another year of Bing Crosby hits, it's time for some new blood!

US based pianists / keyboardists extraordinaire Jacob Pavek & Philip Daniel have teamed up on the new collaborative project BLOMMA. For this Christmas challenge I didn't want to play anything sweet and relaxing. Right now my mind is very focused on the frenzy of work that adds to the problems of the pandemic but also to the Christmas holidays that are coming. So my improvisation is for my mind a frantic awakening that sees me face a snowstorm on a sleigh pulled by horses used to this adventure. 
A sincere thanks and best wishes for a Happy Holidays to all of you and in particular to Simon Reich who organized the challenge.

I had planned not to play a Christmas song. My left hand found a chord progression. And my right hand decided the melody of "Oh Christmas Tree" would fit. I'm not quite sure I agree with my right hand.
