Nach ihrer erfolgreichen ersten Single "Magnet Balls" bringt die Chiemgauer Indie-Folk Band Augustin am 31. August mit "Colors" einen weiteren Song aus dem Soundtrack des Sommer-Kinohits "303" von Hans Weingartner unter die Leute.

"Colors", der namensgebende Song des neuen Albums von Augustin, das am 20. Juli erschienen ist, zeichnet langsam vorbeiziehende Landschaften in die Köpfe. Der verträumte Song entschleunigt und führt zurück zur Basis der eigenen Sehnsüchte. "Colors" ist eine Liebeserklärung an die Entschleunigung, das Sich-Treiben-Lassen, das Verlieben.

Sängerin Jana Iris verleiht dem Song mit ihrer warmen Stimme eine ganz besondere Intimität und wird zum tragenden Element im reduzierten Folk-Arrangement.

Augustins Frontmann Michael Regner komponierte die Filmmusik des Roadmovies "303" und steuerte drei Songs von Augustin zum Soundtrack bei.

~On the EP~
Wow this EP took a long time to collect and put together. I started around January, after I finished making the keepitchristmas collection. I've had demos that didn't develop until months later so I thank you very much for stopping by and giving me a bit of your valuable time.

I started this EP with the intent of stepping away a bit from keepitinside and exploring my own identity as Adam Kim, but it ended up evolving into an appreciation and reflection of my past experiences. I hope to not dwell in them, but use them to grow and develop as a human bean.

I always envision that scene in Sound of Music where Fräulein Maria goes out to an open hillside to sing. She is so alone, but at the same time, so full of life and wonder.

i guess i’m sorry for the way that i’m posting this. but this is all that i could muster for this song. it hurts too much. i suppose this is probably my last adventure time cover that i will ever do. it feels so surreal. it feels so heartbreaking. and i know this is just raw and quiet and full of mistakes but i just… had to post it like this.

a younger version of me wanted nothing more than to play these songs and to have the courage to share them with the world.

When I stumbled across Ren and heard her incredible voice, I knew straight away that I really wanted to write a song for her. 'Safe' is the result. Ren's thoughtful lyrics paint a poignant picture of a difficult situation, in which one is trapped and desperate to leave, in the hope that they can feel safe again.

I had enjoyed hearing some of the great reverb used by
one of our excellent SoundCloud composers, 
Ricardo Da Silva:  https://soundcloud.com/hobbits-odyssey
he advised me on the Spaces 2 reverb from EastWest.

So, I took it for a test ride on this composition.

I started off with what I thought was an original idea,
but it occurred to me how much it kept feeling 
like it could be built on top of Vangelis's score, Alpha.

So, I decided to wander off into an homage of a scant segment of Alpha.

As I was finishing it off, the final chords sounded a lot like
Bach's Toccata in D minor,
...so what the heck...
Since the instrument I had built for this song 
sounded almost good enough to substitute for a baroque organ, 
I just went with it.

Maybe a dash of Ave Maria in a slightly different light, as well.
