Cowboy Rhythmbox are Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Richard X, latest signings to Phantasy. Coming together to create their own singular strain of music for dancing, they draw on a collective love of outsider house, bargain bin cut-outs, hard drive debris, rudimentary jack trax, obscure TV themes, Euro disco, EBM, Detroit Techno, the Smith & Wesson Model 3 and horses.

"We Got The Box" brings to life the playground game of repeat-a-word-until-it-sounds-weird, pushing and pulling a disembodied voice by milliseconds to create a hypnotic mind episode. On the flip "Rattle" takes off where their debut track "Shake" left off, a devastating barrage of industrial drums and frenetic chants.

Off The Record is back for the 49th mix in its series! As we near half way to the golden centennial mix our eyes move over to two of the UK’s deepest diggers and independent musical minds.
Stuart Leath aka Chuggy is commonly known for his work running the very excellent Emotional Response / Emotional Rescue imprints as well as a few other note worthy projects and Piers Harrison – part of the Brighton four piece Soft Rocks with a mountain work out in the world as well as being a very solid selector; together they make up the Mysticisms label.

Mysticisms is an imprint that seems to focus on digging deep into the old as well as discovering the new and fleeting into obscure sounding club sounds. With a bag of certified legends like Persian and Nail along with more recent fresh names like Deep Dean & Coral D the label has perked ears from some of the biggest DJs in the game, not forgetting enticing the eyes with a solid visual aesthetic to match.

For Off The Record #49 Leath & Harrison put together some choice tracks from the label new and old. Mixed by Harrison it is a perfect calling card for the label and really showcases what its all about.

As a member of W.H. Lung, Tom Sharkett has provided electronics for one of the best bands in the UK, including on their most recent, critically acclaimed LP, ‘Every Inch of Earth Pulsates’. These DIY, indie-oriented experimentations have slowly led Sharkett to unexpected places as a solo artist in club culture, via the portal of Manchester’s legendary venue, The White Hotel, where he was inspired by inspired by cult nights such as Red Lazer and Wet Play, 

Sharkett has since collaborated with artists such as System Olympia and Raf Rundell, as well as appearing on Optimo Music and Okay Nature Records. His subtle, spirited edit of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Home’, released as a bootleg in early 2025, has recently re-emerged on DFA Records as an official release, just in time to become an unusual wistful summer anthem. 

Sharkett captures this fruitful moment in a contribution to Phantasy’s long-running mix series, which features a smattering of currently unreleased material, while bridging Cabaret Voltaire, Slowdive, Eden Burns and even Chappel Roan. True to the eclectic philosophy of Sharkett’s DJ and production trip so far, PHANTASYMIX 53 is a rare trip.

The final release on Trevor Jackson’s previously unreleased archive label Pre- is an album under his own name titled ’System’ 

8 tracks originally recorded between 2002-2010 these works consist of music taken from the same sessions that became his highly ambitious Vinyl Factory music and installation project ‘Format’ in 2015. Edited and complied from a series of lengthy nocturnal synthesiser, drum machine & 8 bit sampler improvisations they range from melodic IDM, driving electro, motor city techno & tripped out industrial house excursions. 

The album originally launched at the London Independent Label market in May this year, was only available as an ultra limited orange edition of 150 CD’s and sold out immediately. This second final white edition is packaged in a unique screen printed case designed by Jackson, and marks a symbolic end to his musical past (after making over 100 unreleased tracks available during the past 3 years) and a long overdue venture into unchartered new musical territories.
